Brushless into the E4 RS

Hi,

I'm in need of some help and advice installing brushless motors into the E4. I'm in the middle of getting my new E4 prep'd for the test track and I'm struggling to get the Orion Vortex brushless motor installed. This is very very tight and doesn't give any movement for gear ratio's and little movement just to mesh it properly. Am I doing something wrong? Also, if the Orion is a known issue, can anyone recommend other makes that do fit, Speed Passion or Novak's ???

I love the car, but need to get it running 10.5 brushless !!

Appreciate anyone's help,

Jason

You will have to take out the side brace and the side brace where the belt tensioner is then the motor will slide in. Also if you want to run 10.5 brushless you will need about a 75t 48 pitch spur or a 100 64pitch, you will need to get an assorment of spur gears to play with different gear ratios due to the tight space, but it doesnt take that long to change spurs and pinions. I posted some pics a few post back that shows some spots that you can take some material out to have a little more room to move the motor.

I also have my spare chassis modified to use the Pro 4 /cyclone front arms  After I broke a front arm yesterday i needed a solution :) didnt get to finish it at the track but i will this week. I ended up using CA and pieces of papertowel's and it held up for 2 qualifiers and a hefty battle in the A-main:D

Im going to test this out but its mainly for a back up plan if i get in the same trouble again:lol: Im still using the E4 arms:nod:

Shock and sway bar mounts are 99.9% in the same spots.

Marcos.J..........what you don't know about this chassis ain't worth knowing about !! Thanks very much for all your input to this forum.

Have you tried the Speed Passion 10.5 or 13.5 in this car ? I'm assuming the issue will be exactly the same?

Anyone recommend a better 13.5 or 10.5 brushless than the Orion ?

Cheers,

Jason

lol

I only run Speedpassion motors , I used Orion before it will be the same, you will have linited room for motor movement so like i said just get an assorment of spurs and you will be fine.

I highly recommend the Speedpassion motors they are fast!! ( as long as you get the Speedpassion ESC too,so you can really tune the motor!!:))

It only takes me about 2 minutes to completely change motors and spur. It'll be worth it:D

well i had to take some material out of the arm towards the back to be able to get the exact wheelbase and i also had to ream out the arm to be able to use the E4 caster block. Then I added the shims shown on the picture to allign every thing as the E4 arm. I also had to use a shorter cvd bone 46mm to fit. I havent ran it yet I really dont know the benefit , like i sai i got cought in a jam over the weekend (broke and arm and had no replacement) so i had to do this modification but i ended up just gluing the arm and adding some papertowel (like fiberglass body work on a car).

I have no idea about the outcome i just needed something to finish the race for the weekend:)
