I actually prefer the IFS. You can't run the newer offset arms flipped forward for better weight distribution if it had a regular shock mount.

First shake down with my GORILLA.
Just a ton of fun to be out at the track with it.

From the looks of it, it will fit the Tamiya FF-03/04, Destiny RX, VBC F12/F17, Sakura FF EVO/EX and Xpress FT1. Can't say for the MTS FF V2/V3 because the shock towers on both look high.

Seeing how close is counter gear to differential, would it be possible to design 2 gear transmission? Rotational direction would remain same, but it'd remove some weight and friction.

After i got this i did look into a 2 gear but i think it's too tight. Even this one is marginal on spur clearance (max 64t 48dp spur) and lowest gearing is 4.5 so it's a bit limited.

Time to start a „new“ old adventure.
I bought a just-build-never-driven FF01 and will turn it into a Tamiya tuning beauty:

The first step was dissassembling and checking the parts:

The previous owner did a very good job. All screws were greased and tightened with care. The differential was loose and so perfectly survived the 25 years on the shelf.

The body condition is also very good. No scratches. Unfortunately the color scheme is a bit off. I will remove the paint & stickers and repaint it to the Opel JTCC box art.

I'm Excited to see what your plans and set up are. Are you upgrading the steering too? If so, what are you using?

I still have my original FF-01 which I bought in 1996 and upgraded the chassis to FRP..

Nice chassis!

What exactly do you mean by steering upgrade?
Is there a Hop Up or trick using Tamiya parts?
