SMC 28C High Performance 4000mAh - 5000mAh Hardcase Lipos

Mr Rimer,
I think this is the problem
"Tony there is no need to remove the info as if you wouldn't of tried this somebody else would of. I think the message boards are great so we can discuss/debate about things like this. Bottom line tracks allowing Lipos need to know that overcharging can be done and should be looked into. If racers don't know about it they will wonder why some guy is going .2 or so of second faster than them. Plus we know it's not safe so it's better to make people aware.
I have said it all along that Lipos are not as perfect as some want them to be and when you start using them in high end racing they will not have any of the so called advantages over sub-c cells as were finiding out that cycling them certain ways is making them perform better."
The Tornado guy said he would remove his instructions, that was Danny's response.
It would have been way easier to just say over charging is unsafe and shouldn't be done and cycling packs can make them better.
And finally, I think most Lipo users understand that Lipo's may not be as fast as the latest and greatest NiMh pack, but I for one am willing to give up maybe a little performance becasue I am just plain sick of buying one run packs.
Good night all, and I don't like Eli Manning either! Brady will make him cry, again!

WRONG. SMC has stated numerous times that we do not endorse this. How can you misinterpret that? SMC did not post this procedure. Quit trying to stir up trouble where it doesn't exist.

Interesting to see how so many people here are so one track minded its pretty sad. Someone comes on here and post info weather it be detailed or a brief description is regardless. The point is that all know the process and if someone is doing it then turn them in. Track owners cant just be in the pits watching for this its up to the racers to pitch in and help to keep this from happening. Would you rather not know and have someone right next to you doing this and potential taking you or your equipment out in a accident that could have been prevented???

What does JACO have to do with this? Did SMC post this information or just confirm that it a problem? SMC had discussions with ROAR about this very issue in an attempt to inform them before they made the rules. They already knew about it so don't act like SMC discovered it or endorses it. Danny is simply stating the same thing I have said- whenever the racers get ahold of new technology, they will find a way to push it to the limits. THIS DOES NOT IN ANY WAY MEAN SMC ENDORSES OR ENCOURAGES RACERS TO DO THIS. I don't know why we are being accused of it. I'm sure other methods of extracting performance will emerge. Hopefully, someone will bring them to light so they don't pose a threat to safety or create an unfair advantage.
CHARGING (CE Lipo updated GFX)
12000mah or 12 amps
2 cell 8.40 peak
(90-95 degree temps)
DO NOT hook up sensor leads
DISCHARGE (CE Updated Lipo GFX)
35 amp
2 cell 6.0 cut-off
(140-150 degree temps)
Hook up sensor leads
CONDITIONING (CE Updated Lipo GFX)
Cycle, Cycle, Cycle...............
Charge then discharge several times prior to racing.
Under high end racing conditions 2 packs are needed. Cycle the pack using the above info and do not delay in-between discharge and charging. When the pack is done discharging go directly into a charge. With the SMC packs 3-4 cycles will "top out" the pack. Many other Lipo packs took 7-10 cycles and still did not top out.
When you are done with your heat/qualifier dump the pack and go right back into a charge.
At the end of your main or day of racing dump the pack done and store without charge. More than 2 weeks do not discharge your pack.
RE-PEAKING
1. Do not attempt to use the following info on any other Lipo packs other than SMC 4000/5000 packs.
2. The following will decrease the life of your pack by at least 3/4.
3. The more the following process is repeated the greater chances are for FIRE dangers.
4. D0 NOT leave your pit area while performing the following procedures.
5. If a FIRE is caused do not use water or conventional fire extinguishers. USE SAND and smother the fire out.
6. Due to mis-use the manufacturers warranty will be void.
After the pack has completed a normal charge, re-peak with your Lipo GFX on NIHM mode at 10 amps. Let the pack overcharge to 9.00 volts and then stop the GFX. DO NOT WALK AWAY during this process as the pack will catch fire if voltage exceeds 9.25.

You guys are covering your asses, plain and simple. You also have no ground to stand on. Everyone here has a right to be upset. So shut up.

Read the post above and stop trying to play innocent. Its irresponsible for step by step instructions to be posted. At least 10 different people have gotten on this thread to say the same thing. Only 2 SMC guys and a guy that is probably sponsored or runs SMC batteries has supported the post. Wake up.

Why you did not ask him to remove his posts much earlier when he asked, I don't know. There is a big difference between saying, "that's just the way it is", and coming out strongly against abusing LiPo and providing solutions that might prevent it. Selling your contribution to this thread as a PSA is a joke.
You are not representing your company well unless there's an ulterior motive you folks are working.

If you are reffering to me I in no way am sponsored by or run any SMC products. I just see this thread for what it is a warning to al that there is a way to potentially make a lipo more of a hazard IN THE WRONG HANDS. We all know there are those out there that will do anything to get that edge over the field and welcome the fact someone came on here and posted this info so now I know. As with anything people will always take info differently. Apparently you feel strongly it shouldnt have been posted where I feel there is nothing wrong with it. Personally I would be twice as mad to know Lil Johnny who's daddy buys him anything he wants with no understanding of how it works was doing this right next to me in the pits....

All you guys need to do is to talk to your track owner and police overcharging together.
It has been my experience when we mention something on these boards that some of you refuse to believe it or accept it. I think that posting about overcharging in this manner will get everyones attention.
I have talked about overcharging in the past only to be told it's easy to tech and won't be allowed but we need to get the info out there and if this thread makes everyone aware about it then it's a good thing.
