FroBoy ....... you have it right. The spirit of what was done in "Handout Race" rules was the basiss for the "Controlled Motor" rules. Tech will consist of tagging of arms and/or cans. No swapping of arms and cans allowed. You can only run the 3 BL or BR motors registered to you.
Can you only have 3 motors teched total? I'm not sure if brushed will be faster for me or brushless, so I am planning on bringing both. That being said will I then be limited to 2 brushed motors and 1 17.5?

Rule 12.4.6.3 clearly states ...... "Participants will be limited to a maximum of 3 ROAR approved motors." Pretty clear to me. ROAR approved motors are defined in the rule for stock as 27t brushed or 17.5 brushless and super stock is defined as 13.5 brushless.
Just remember that for '08 Super Stock will include ROAR approved 19t brushed and ROAR approved 10.5 brushless.
The key word in these rules is "APPROVED" and currently we have no approved brushless stock or super stock motors.
The manufacturers had better get their rears in gear because the rules clearly state that all approved products must be on the approval list 14 days prior to the race which is something like Feb 28th if you plan on running it at the Carpet Nats. ROAR has no control over what mfg or when the mgf will submitt for approval but they have been notified.

Maybe Dawn can chime in and let us who has submitted their BL's for approval or what we can expect, etc.... I can imagine a lot of people will not come to this race if BL motors are not allowed.

RBLove ...... as far as what to expect. I would expect all of the currently available 10.5, 13.5 and 17.5 from Novak, Orion, LRP, Losi, Speedpassion and Checkpoint to pass. But they need to be submitted. All the mfg's have been contacted on this and they are aware that their is a time crunch and they have all verbally conmmitted to sending in motors for approval prior to this deadline.

It's the same rules and limits as handouts but B.Y.O.M. ...... bring your own motor
There will be CO27's and Komodo 19t available at the race at a discount ...... price TBD

It's basically an open motor rule in stock and super stock. We weren't stating brushless so we changed from stated brushed (co27 stock, Komodo 19t) to OPEN ROAR Approved brushed and brushless motors with a limit of 3 motors, per class. Motors will be pre teched, uniquely marked and registered to the driver per class. No switching of cans and arms no switching of motors per class.... ie 2- motors stock TC can only be ran in TC stock even if you had motors registered for 1/12th.

At this point the www.2008roarnats.com still list CO-27 only and the Roar site still does not have an official flyer. This makes it a little tuff to plan if the rules are going to change.
