2009 Tamiya World Championship - Mini

rccardr, could you tell me what the difference between the red dot silver can and a black can is? I am currently running a black can in my mini and was wondering what the difference would be with the silver can?
|
Sure.
Black can is a 23 turn modified motor with mild timing. Turns around 15,600 at 5 volts out of the box, has fairly soft brushes and runs pretty hot with a 20 tooth pinion gear. Red Dot silver can is a 27 turn motor using a Tamiya #53689 core, fully TCS legal. Turns around 16-17,500 RPM at five volts, has somewhat harder (and longer lasting) brushes and will come off the track at a perfect 170 degrees with a 20 tooth pinion. Performance on most tracks is (roughly) equal, but the Red Dots tend to last longer. Our testing shows very close lap times between the two using the same driver, same car & same battery. |
im back
the minis seam to be starting up again at my local club for the last 5 weeks there have only been 3 of us raceing now there are 6 and counting. because i have been mantaining my tc more than the mini, it has been pushed aside now when i race it is usless round corners. i have rensably hard foam tyers on the front and soft on the back and it looses masses of speed through the corners it also only has a gear diff because the ball diff died would this be the answer of are there any other answers for not losing a lot of speed? are the standered kit tyers any good on the carpet tracks?

Got a question for the experts out there.
Raced mini last night, my mate had M03 and I have an M05. I was very happy with the car except when cornering. His car ran away at least 1-2 meters on every corner. We even swapped cars and the same result his car was way better through the corners. The only real set up difference is he has cvd's and I have dog bones. My car washes lots of speed off, his carries speed right through, will dog bones do this? The corners are almost all very sharp 100deg+. We both have ball diffs, the same shocks, he has team powers tyres and I have Spice. Both cars have silver can motors and are identicle on the straights. They both have plenty of grip with very little body roll and are both planted in corners. We have very different driving styles but when we swapped cars I beat him with his car so it is a set up thing. Any suggestions? Terry I used to get the same wear on my Xray tourer but I did not expect it on the m05. Terry |
I think your main problem is you're comparing an M05 to an XRay.

quick one for ya
Hey all got a quick one for ya mini guru's...... my buddy has a M03 (greyish chassis) and he broke an upright... will a upright from the M03L kit work.... figured it should but just want to double check
thanx |
What hopups do you recommend that won't break the bank? I have the M05. Do I just need bearings and dampers? What about lipo options? Do we have to put in lead weights with lipos? Does the stock ESC support lipo cutoff?

Just wondering, do people have issues fitting the 60D tires on the short wheelbase mini? Doesn't the 60D tires seem a little big for the wheel well of the old mini body?
Trying to figure out what body to get next... |
