Hadnt even thought of the XB kits... What a great idea!
That'd be the 57742 kit. Not sure what the part no for the bits is though. |
I wonder if all metal gears are available for Tamiya mini cooper.
|
Nope.... you're stuck with standard.

You can just order the Chrome parts tree for the XB Monte carlo rally and put them on the Mini Copper Racing shell. Then again you might be able to order the XB Mini body shell unpainted, I ordered a few C Car bodies unpainted when they re released them. Ask what ever Tamiya office is near you about the unpainted bodies.
The ABC Mini Countryman is nice and comes with seperate front and rear bumpers. Its a pretty nice kit,if you dont have a Genetic you should try one, very user friendly adjusting the rear diff is a little bit of a pain, but that dosent have to happen to often. I'm getting the rally lights for my mini this week, so it should really match by the time I'm done.. the only real reason I'm looking for the regular Mini body is because the racing body is "sectioned" (the fenders are higher up into the body than on the regular body) having the chrome bumpers wasn't so much the problem (I have an M01 that I still have a complete body for, but I painted it dark blue WAY before I got my green mini, and you can't really remove Tamiya paint) I can scavenge the chrome parts from my older one... or I can't use chrome paint to finish the details... I didn't know you could get the XB bodies unpainted... that Rally body would work fine if I could... it's actually molded from the original Mini but with all the decals and the rally lights... I have some friends at Tamiya... maybe I'll try them... I wrote ABC and they told me that they might work on a new version of the mini body since the old mold sucked so badly, now that they have a new molding technique that produces Tamiya-quality bodies... |
I went through the back way on Tamiya's site and was able to order a new (old) Mini Cooper body... I don't think it comes with the chrome parts, but like I said, someone on eBay had the Monte Carlo chrome parts that I bought already...
I think I just scored! |

Do you know if there the exact lenth as the stock shocks? |
Theyre longer than the super mini shocks, but as long as you put spacers/o rings on the shaft, they should work fine.

Go Akura!
LOL... $22 directly from Tamiya Not bad.. seems to have gone through, and they didn't say "syke!... you thought you could bypass our system and get a discontinued body?" there was an actual "add to cart" versus "discontinued" and it allowed me to pay and everything.. i can't wait |
Are there treaded and slick S-grip's and M-grip's tires?
Can you give me the part numbers for S-grip and M-grip tires. Thanks! |
