tire spin

hi,

try m grip or s grip front tires, depending on carpet type... also maybe lower front ride height than rear... gear diff

good luck.

Pro ten Holland 10-23-2007 08:06 AM

Filling the gear diff with thick grease cured my wheelpin coming out of the corner.

Question for the carpet guys...I've pretty much run only the gear diff shimmed pretty tight for the last year. My question is, does anyone like the ball diff better if it's tight and secured so it won't loosen? The only place my car lacks a little is off power turn in...with the "almost spool" it pushes just a little too deep into the corner. On power it's awesome.

gear diff

hi,

on carpet, w/ gear diff (antiwear grease, no shims), 17 laps 5:10 vs tight ball diff 17 laps 5:13... maybe you can try both and pick the one giving you best overall performance over the race duration. gear diff seems to give more power coming out of corners.

good luck

I guess my next question would be what's the cure for the off power push? Softer springs...softer oil?

I can vouch for that, used some old Pit Shimuzi tyres on my mini the other day (21mm wide wets)... certainly seemed more pron to rolling over on quick direction changes than previously... think Elk test (A-Class Merc if you will).

Still had plenty of grip, and wasn't so bad after I dropped the ride height almost as low as I could :)

Still experimenting and having fun with the mini you see :P

BTW... a 13.5 B/L is NOT equivilant to a 27t motor, 15.5 is closer, but thats one for other threads (basically, don't believe the manufactuers guff on this ;) ).

One thing I would mention is though... I'm becoming more and more impressed with the standard Tamiya speed control. £15, and it's running been running a monster 27t in my mini fine and dandy, and the motor seems fine, even after a few runs with a higher than optimal gearing (i do have an 18t pinion, but hell.... gear up!!!!!)

can't agree more that tamiya teu101 ESC is a RHINO, i was using it for 15 minutes and not problem at all. Ed so 13.5 B/L is how many turn compared to brushed motor??? So you are saying that 13.5 B/L is faster than 27T brushed motor ?????

I know this should be in another thread but I will answer this anyway.

13.5 BL is faster than a 27t Brushed. In our points series the TQ in 13.5 BL was 2 laps more than the TQ in 27t brushed. This was in rubber TC on carpet.

why dont tamiya make solid blue instead of chrome blue, the chrome blue will peel off very easily like the chrome chassis on M03R -- if i have thos blue chrome chassis i wont use it for race, it's to nice to race it ;)

Off power push

hi,

for off power push, maybe grippier front tires, rear only sway bar, no shimming gear diff, front toe out... or try tapping the brakes in really tight corners.

good luck.

Hi guys... I've been a M-chassis fanatic for years now, but this is my first post in this thread. Howdy to all. One of these days I'll have to post some pics of my many M-chassis projects.

The reason for my post is all because of the picture on ABC Hobby's homepage at the moment... looks like they are re-releasing the Datsun 510 on the Genetic chassis!!

abchobby.com

http://abchobby.com/abcframe/inframe...yo/new_510.jpg

I've owned a real '71 510 coupe with a factory two-liter, & the usual Z-car suspension upgrades, 13" panasports, Weber downdraft, etc. etc-period correct mods. I lost it to a fuel vapor-induced fire a couple of years ago... so sad. One day I will own another, but until then this new ABC release will have to tide me over! Guess I'll be buying two(bodies at least), one will have to be a replica of my old orange 510, & I'll need one to throw down with on the track :)

->Apologies if someone has already posted this new release... I dont read every page of the thread.

datsun 510

i must have one as well. let us know when they are available and how we can get them over here. i'll take three asap.

tony gray 10-26-2007 02:37 PM

Don't hold your breath boys...

If it follows the usual pattern from ABC, the complete kit will come out within a few weeks, and THEN about 2-3 months later they'll release the body as a separate item.

That's what they did with the Sunny pickup and Coupe.
