Those dampers should all have the same tube size and volume (including the TRF's), so just use the same stuff as the plastic ones.

I've never raced mine but it makes sense that a front wheel drive car will handle better because of the weight and power in the front pulling the car the corners instead of the rear wheel drive pushing the car. Pushing would be fun for drifting. As long as you can take the turns quickly and don't lose any speed you should be able to take the rear wheel drive cars with ease. They'd have to slow down to make the turn and you shouldn't have to.

I choose the mo4 rear drive because the whole field will be mo3s, I want to be different and I like the challenge. I will try to make the car push, I hope, so I can drive harder into the turns. I hope I don't get spun.

Throttle control is key for the M-04.. if you're on low-traction parking lot or just bashing anywhere for the fun of it, go with the M-03, as it can be driven anywhere without worrying about traction.
If you're indoors or have a clean grippy track or surface outdoors, the M-04 rocks.. it doesn't flip like the M-03 can and handles like a touring car since the CoG is much lower. The M-03 gives assurance that you won't spin out when accelerating, which can be important when nerves can get the best of you :D My M-04 is a carpet monster, and with care can do well outdoors, but I'm getting an M-03 for this outdoor TCS season, as our surfaces are less than optimal for RWD.. |

Just checked out a new carpet track in my area. Does anyone have a baseline carpet set-up they would be willing to share? Most likely will be running Tamiya tires and the mighty Mabuchi....
I'm an experienced racer, but totally new to carpet. Any help or generalities are appreciated! |
Tower says theyre getting the MO3R in Late March... and its Definatly late march... how much longer? :weird:

Depending on how keen you are to save weight..
This is the part number for the Swift Lightweight Body Set. TAMIYA, 49420 - SUZUKI SWIFT SUPER 1600 LIGHT WEIGHT BODY |

I'm an experienced racer, but totally new to carpet. Any help or generalities are appreciated! TRF Shocks (optional) Super CVA Mini Shocks work great too Ride height: 3.5mm front and rear Shock Oil: 35 weight front and rear Springs Front: White Tamiya Short Tuned (not from set) Springs Rear: Red Tamiya Short Tuned (not from set) Tires Front: S-Grip Tires Rear: M-Grip Stabilizer Front: Silver Stabilizer Rear: NONE Differential: Gear Diff works great on Carpet. Shim it with 4xMA9, that's the large washer in the kit...put 2 on EACH side of the diff and tighten it down. There should still be a little diff action but it will be really tight allowing for better acceleration out of corners. Run the Diff dry with MAYBE a quick squirt of silicon oil but just a little. With Tires, experiment there. My setup is working for me but another guy at the track runs M-Grips up front and Type A slicks in the back and that works well for him. Some of that will depend on your driving style. Same with springs. Some use the Blue Tamiya Short Tuned (not from set) in the front instead of the harder white. |
