As has been mentioned a couple of times in the last page or 2, that kit was limited edition and isn't available anymore. Unless you know of a source that still has some?
...and TowerHobbies taunts me with their limited "r" version sitting there on their web page for $209, w/o coupons it would have been about $179. I am kicking myself on this one, ...wish I picked one up when they were available.

Could you advice also on a budget servo and necessary spare and hop ups (if needed) to improve the drive and durability? I'm trying to compile the total cost of the Tamiya project...
For driveability, I'd consider some kind of oil damper. The Pro comes with some clear plastic ones which work okay, but are a little fragile. Either get some TRF dampers (any of 54000, 42273, 42291), or CVA super mini shocks (50746). Also get some suitable springs if you're not getting the TRF shocks (53333 or equivalent). If you're getting the regular kit, get some bearings. I wouldn't worry about spending much more than that, but if you want to go a bit further, look into the aluminium steering bellcrank upgrades and maybe aluminium knuckles for durability.

Tires will make the biggest difference for driveability. What kind of surface are you likely to be driving on? I don't have much experience with tire recommendations but someone should be able to help out there. The kit Tamiya tires aren't very good and don't last long.

For a servo, the Savox 1251 is pretty popular, but even that is probably a bit more than you need in a mini. I'm using a crappy old Futaba S3003 in my M03 and it works fine.

Wise choice Eric. It takes patience to set it up.. but once you get it dialed in.. its a blast to drive. PM me with any questions you may have!

The local track has a brand new dark carpet. That would be my main venue.
I see now that the R version isn't available anywhere. Apparently has a lot of hop ups and nice mods. Pity.

I never used the word discontinued, and this has been discussed previously. Nobody has stock, nobody has a valid ETA. It's a limited edition kit, as mentioned in this link.

http://www.tamiya.com/english/products/84424/index.htm

Basically, what I mean is that if you want one, you can't currently get one, and nobody knows if/when it will be available again.

Okay, didn't know Amazon had some in stock. Good to know, I'm sure eR1c would appreciate that find. The price isn't particularly good though, might be cheaper getting a v2 Pro plus some shocks and unis from rcmart.

However, the late Jan ETA from Tower/Omni (they're the same company) is bogus, they've been saying "Late Month+1" for the last 3 or so months and keep pushing it back. eR1c already mentioned that.

Yeah, I've watched the "in stock" date go from "Early to Late" "November to January" ....so not holding my breath. In fact its fine, I have a fully spec'd out M05, ...the M06 really interests me now.

well.. it's in the mail now. I'm re-joining the M05 club.

I've got an Audi 200 body coming, a MX-5 M05 kit, a V2 chassis bits kit, the CVA damper kit, aluminum steering bits, a 17.5 sensored motor and ESC, a 20 tooth pinion, and some adjustable upper suspension links.

.... this ought to be fun.

Those guys are life savers. Plus, you can do a virtual walk through of the shop on Google Streetview.
