Dirt, mashed in carpet fuzz, traction compound, maybe a haze of oil from bearings. That spur has a full season of practice and racing on it. I think the pinion was installed last season.
I got two of those 2S 1/16th lipo's MD recommended today, S6070, 60D, wheels, Sport-tuned 380 motor, etc.
I have another 1/16th nano-tech 2S coming to me next week.
Voodoo drops also arrived for my silver cans.

What number of oil should I put on 3racing gear diff if running on small to medium track?

Locally there are cars running anything from 300,000 to 2.5M, but 500,000 seems to be the favourite right now. We run on medium grip carpet, about 36' x 70'.
Hey hope you all had a nice holiday weekend.
I worked on my M03 and M05 suspension. The M03 turned out real well, very much dialed in rivaling my V2. Biggest change since the corner balancing (using the M05 battery holders and shifted battery on the right by 2-3mm) was adding the white extra hard spring on the front with white Tamiya damper oil, single hole piston. I use full traction compound on the rear treads, and on the front the inner 2 treads on the 60D's. The rear is running red spring and very loose damper oil. No rake.
Too bad my ball diff's spline gave out on one side where the outdrive connects. Swapped to open diff but no issue on my tight track.
On the M05 I added the front stabilizer. It's not a huge difference, but it did improve the sway. I'm going to start softening the damper oil this week on the front. With the aftermarket pistons in there, I can probably go down to #400 (Tamiya yellow) level.
Have not had a chance to even open the M-Four's packaging yet.

BTW, Granpa- Thanks again on that VooDoo comm drops. It does make a noticeable difference on my silver can!

...this was also a good time to check my gears, ball diff', etc... ...yet w/ only 2 race days on them (about 6 races) they were still good.
I was able to get 4th out of about 13-15 in the A main. Hoping the V2 will give me a bit better handling to get in the top 3.

Forgot to mention, with the tad warmer weather, I ordered 3 cans of lexan spray paint. Just the basics, red, blue, green in metallic. Will be painting the bodies hopefully soon.
Sounds like fun, eR1c! How much $ did it cost you to do this conversion? I might do this down the road on my M05.

However it was listed at $9.99. So I added it to my cart. I didn't need that part, but a quick ebay search showed that they were all selling for $55-75 each. I went back the next day to buy like 10 of them, but the $9.99 price was gone. ...SO, I have this Tamiya V2 aluminum hop up set that I got for $10, which I plan on putting on eBay for $45 ...a $35 profit should be had thus making my V2 conversion a $2 profit!

I am pretty sure that was a big mistake on their part.
So I guess I will think about converting my M05 to V2 as well. I will just need to get the chassis and the aluminum motor mount with heatsink. The improvement is INSANE.

I think being able to run a smaller shorty battery will be a HUGE gain alone.
I don't know why the M05 drives so front/top heavy like the M03's while it looks more like the V2.
That piece of plastic (V2 chassis) has A LOT of technology built into the design.
BTW, has anyone tried the M05 aluminum counter weight?

I too was curious about that counterweight.
It will fit the M05 perfectly and would seem to counter weight the motor.
For the M05 V2 I am not sure if it would be a perfect fit as the contact area of the V2 chassis is beveled slightly (whereas the weight is flat). -I would be curious if it is a fit though?
