So is the HPI Switch run in the same classes as the Tamiya Mini? Are the competitive? The HPI looks like a more traditional racing chassis. That's why I wondered.

go and read the review on rc-mini.net, you would forget about buying one after that.

That's what I needed to know. I'd seen them on ebay, but didn't know if they were worth considering. I have an M-03. Just wondered if they were comparable.

I've drove one firsthand and they are not comparable. The Switch's steering is pretty bad and out of the box the car bounces a lot because of the friction shocks. You can buy the $80 :eek: option shocks.

I'd pass on this one.

The sole useful purpose served by a HPI Switch is occupying space in landfill.

Easily the worst car I've ever driven in 30+ years of r/c.

Sad really as it had a lot of potential, but looked like they ended up losing interest part way through the design process and just put it out as it was...

M05 Ride Height
 

Hey guys! Ive been racing my M05 inside my local hobby shop on there new carpet track for a couple months now and am loving it. :D I was wondering what your ride heights are? Mine is close to 12mm. I have a stock M05, and there are no shock adjustment holes and i cant figure out how to lower it. I would appreciate any help I can get. Thanks

How fast is your m-chassis? Doesn't matter, ours is quicker...

reminds me of the pooper, when Porsche would not sell the 550 spyders to certain teams one of them fitted a porsche quad cam flat 4 in to the back of a MINI, needless to say. After a handful of victory's Porsche found some 550's to sell

Removing AW grease?
 

I opened up my M05 today and found that the AV grease I used in the ball diff (as per rc-mini.net) has recently begun to leak out past the drive cup plate bases, and onto the white diff gear.

What's the best way to clean the AW grease off the gear(s)?

I will rebuild the diff (same way, it works excellently) and want to use all the gears again as they are in perfect condition. I don't want to use brake cleaner as this makes the gear go brittle.



Also - anyone else tried the TRF 416 titanium outdrives? I had them on and the pin holes where the universal pin sits wore out in 2hours. Using a 540 brushed motor! They are crap. Noway they would last an hour with brushless power. Back to the steels. Anyone have any other lighter weight uni recommendations?


The 100km minis were amazingly stable. Looked like fun! :sneaky::)

It sounds like you used way too much AW grease. You need very little.

If you don't want to use brake cleaner, try Simple Green and scrub with a toothbrush. A little labor intensive, but it works well.
