Talking Xray T1 FK05 FK-05 - OVERKILL OR NOT?

Hi guys, I am about to purchase some gears for high speeds. I am only street bashing, not racing so I am not too worried if it has a slow takeoff.

These are the gears:
Robinson Racing 48P 70T Spur
Robinson Racing 48P 30T Pinion

Does anyone reckon this is an overkill? I will be taking it easy on the takeoff so not too much strain is on the engine.

Cheers

What motor? Stock spur is 87 I think. 30/70 doesn't sound right.

The motor is an Epic 6X1. They are aftermarket gears, what doesn't sound right? lol It's only for street bashing, I might wreck the motor but I am getting a new 1 lol. Thanks for the reply, I hit my 200th post lol. Cheers

It's not take off you need to worry about. It's over reving the motor, you'll pop any motor new or old.

That's waaaay too much gear for a 6x1. You'll smoke it in a matter of minutes.

What should I put if I am looking for speeds up at about 100km/h?

Would it even be possible to get 100km/h out of a 6X1? Cheers

That ratio just might do it. Just don't expect the motor to last long. Give her some room 'cause she's gonna take off slower than Oprah running to the salad bar.

Where I live, 1 street away there is a BIG road. About 1 km long and about 1 car passes every half hour. It is fairly smooth. So I don't need to worry about traffic or anything. Even if it lasts a couple runs thats alright I just won't use that ratio again, lol.

I once had a pan car with a 72T spur and a 35T pinion. Took a while to get it up, but once she was up she would go. Blew the engine and the battery started smoking like crazy and all the shrink wrap caught on fire. So I thought if I went down on the ratio a bit, it might be a bit different. But probably not, lol. I might get something like a 25t pinion and a 69t spur.

Do you reckon a 25t pinion and a 69t spur would get me going pretty fast? Also, would the motor be good with that gearing? What speeds do you reckon that could get me, or is that a question that can't be answered until tested, lol. Cheers, thanks again
