seems like guys are running the same servos from the manufacturers. well i ended up getting a bls451 from futaba. I installed it and i didn't have the same problems as i had with the 9000s. this is the first servo i have gotten in the last 10 years that wasn't jr. the 451 is light and has some speed and plenty of torque. Well I will see how I like and let you guys know.

Yes, it is.
Nevertheless, no matter how do you tune it, it won't get close to JR specs.
I have the ICS adapter to reprogram punch, deadband, etc. It's okay machine to have, but hardly improve my lap times no matter how I program my KO servos with it, other than satisfying my perfection needs.
So, I still vote JR9100S is the best servo for 1/10 on road cars.

If its going in a sedan, get a low profile. That being said, there is current 3 you can get.. The Futaba 9550 which is currently discontinued to its prediceser, the 9551 which is a brushless motor. or you can get the KO 2413. The KO has alittle better specs then the Futaba, but if the Futaba is good enough for Paul Lemiux, then its good enough for me!

Guys, all good stuff but for touring cars do you go for speed or torque? ie at the level they are now which is more advantageious. EG is it better to go for a .08 response or a .12 response with higher torque. My rationale is the realistic difference of .04sec is zero so better to go for more torque to hold the car on you rline in the turns. But that is only gut feel based on no real expertise.

Anything over 8Kg of torque should be more than enough for TC's, higher torque servo's are better suited for 1/8 buggy steering etc where they REALLY take a pounding.
Personally, over 8Kg and as fast as possible. My 2123's are 0.06s and the 2413's are 0.10s (and 10g lighter), I won't go any slower than 0.10s.
You can dial steering speed out, but not in!

I'm interested in the Futaba Brushless Digital BLS451 servo for TC. Currently I'm using the Futaba Digital S9550 servo. The BLS451 has almost twice the torque, and is a few milliseconds faster.
I think the torque of the S9550 is fine, but when you bump a wall or rub a bumper/flapper, or if the body gets tucked, the torque is not great enough to prevent the car from being upset and thrown off the line, which is why I feel that a little more torque can be a good thing.

That's what I'm talking about. Matt Francis told me that the 94360 was the best servo he has ever used so I got one a loved it. Switched to the Futaba 9550 because that's what Paul L. told me to run when I use to run for Xray. It was fine and i used it in my Losi and now my TC5 but just took it out and put the Airtronics back in for this coming weekend (Dec 8&9) It's rated a little faster and the torque is higher. I may just sell the 9550 since it's discontinued now. It's all personal preference now a days anyway. Now that Kinwald is racing again once he wins a big event everyone will rush out to buy what he was using. There's nothing wrong with that but you know how our hobby goes....ha ha ha
