Out of shere coincidence our local RCTech moderator recieved the memo from EFRA about exploding cells today shortly after my post.

Way down the memo is what we should be looking at.

I withdraw my statement about IB not making the announcement.

I personally ran some of the newer batch cells testing for SMC this past weekend at cleveland.. I had 10 packs of battery's and all the battery's ran fine (awesome to be honest ) and did not have any cell failures after charging, cycling, discharging and running them on the track... i tested them last night to see if there were any problems and all the packs still have very impressive numbers So i am very happy with this...

Thanks for the info Mike. Congrats on a very strong performance in Cleveland.

As we get more and more feedback from the Cleveland race it seems that cell issues were greatly reduced compared to the last big race which was Vegas so were looking forward to the improved IB cells.

A little off-topic, but...

Do the IB1600 2/3A cells have the same exploding problems as their bigger brothers? I just bought six 8-cell saddle-packs of them to run in my Super-Class rock-crawler, with a Tekin FX-R ESC and Tekin 55T crawler motor.

I have been using the IB 2/3a in micro racing and now my crawler. Have never had issues. I run 8x 1400Ib right now. And charger as high as 5amps. but usually 1-3amps for the crawler

With all of the horror stories of the IB's blowing up, I'm curious what the proper charge rate, peak cut off, rest time, re peak, etc is to cycle an IB4600 pack? I have been out of the sport for a while and last I remember for the 3300's it was something like:

CE Turbo Charger settings:
Charge at 6 amps
peak detect set at .04
rest time 180 sec.
re peak at 6 amps
peak detect set at .02
discharge at 35 amps

Should the peak detects be set lower to keep the cells from over heating? Should the rest time be longer?
