Here's a good one from a couple years ago:
Changing the "neutral" position of the piston inside the shock body will greatly affect its dampening characteristics. (i.e. having more or less shock oil above/below the piston will make the shock work differently)

I thought it would be fun to create a list of "RC Myths" that would be cool to see on Myth Busters.
Example:
When a Sub C cell explodes, it has the force of a 22 caliber riffle, and is therefore lethal.
Or how about this one:
When a friend or loved one dies, if you bury an XRAY chassis with them in the coffin, that person is guaranteed to go to heaven.

People think that putting the stickers on their car is good enough.
