Erik,
How should you gear your car if you are running it with a battery strap?

polished wooden floor? Man that would be like a drifiting session or something. I would suggest you run the car very soft. But im just guessing.

Will Kimbrough spurs work on this car?
I want to change it but my LHS doesn't have any HPI spurs...

Yeah they will, but Yokomo spurs are the best. Jonathan.

That's a ridiculous statement, both HPI and Yokomo both use the same brand spurs... Xenon.

RC Driver Gary: I couldn't make it this year. Try afternoon… my morning is pretty full today.
All: as for strapping tape, you can't go wrong with 3M brand, 898 High Performance Filament Tape (Part no. 7686A12 at McMaster Carr )
Also, note the error in the instruction manual for the battery strap (see picture). Do NOT use the plastic spacers. Also, tighten the posts down as far as possible. In addition you can add the remaineder of the adhesive backed foam to the bottom side of the battery brace (you did cut foam and put in on the posts right????). Correctly installed, your batteries will stay put (AS I have personally tested )

I too have had alot issues with the packs poping out during a race, which is rather frustrating. Is there anyway you could post a pic of your battery slots to ensure that mine look up to par. I have tried a bunch of stuff to fix the issue, but nothing has worked so far and I might need to switch over to tape.
Thanks,
Art

Here is my current car (uses tape). It is how I would usually do the slots though. I take more off the edge that will contact the outer diameter of the cell. I only just "break" the edge that touches the side of the cell so it won't cut the cell's shrink wrap.
Note: the lower you can get the cell, the better off you'll be, but the trade off point is when you start dragging cells.
