My nearly fully hopped up TA05 IFS-R (converted to regular suspension up front) handles amazingly well on rubber/carpet. I bested my 416 fast lap even. :-O

That speaks volumes on the 05 platform! Which hop up(s) would you say are the most essential and/or bang for buck (assuming the car is already a R)?

I suppose it's all very subjective, but I think the stiff chassis and carbon fiber shock towers were the biggest deal, as the car was rather flexy for carpet prior. I also went to the 1XA/1E (rear) and 1D/1D (front) blocks like we use on the 416. This is really just a project car I picked up to have some fun with, but I was quite pleased with how well it did. I'll keep running it and see how things go.

I want to replace the stock dampers with some TRF shocks. What's the part number for the IFS-R shocks?

So I got to run my 3 day old TA05 IFS (27t) today against a TC5 FT (10.5), X-Ray 72 008 (19t) and a CRC Pro10 (13.5)car, ....the Tamiya Won. I have to say, I normally run a Cyclone (10.5) and I am IMPRESSED with how SMOOTH and Easy this car is to drive!

I think I'm going to get me and IFS-R soon. I have a regular TA05-R and use basically the stock setup with a couple minor changes. But I don't use the sway bars. For the IFS-R (those running close to box setup) are you using the sway bars or not?

I run my IFS-R on outdoor asphalt and do not use the sway bars. Stock setup other than that and the car is absolutely hooked.

I raced my IFS-R for the first time last Saturday, and I did not use the sway bars. The car handled really well without them. However, I plan on trying the sway bars over the next 2 days in preparation for our local TCS race on Sunday.

The explaination in the manual isn't with the usual set up or tuning tips. Its in a side column on the page where you first mount up the shocks.

I use the sway bars pretty much all the time. I've been running carpet/rubber pretty much since I got it. I'll be starting outdoor soon, so we'll see.

But if I recall from my days with my original TA05, I ran the swaybars even outdoors on asphalt.

But I will say that I pretty much use sway bars on any car I've ever run.

I have my IFS all built, and almost ready for this session. As far as setup gose, I followed the manual's suggestion, but would like some good setups for ashpalt.

Honestly, start with the stock setup and be as precise as possible. That worked great for me on asphalt.

Thanks guys... one more question for now.... does the IFS-R suffer from the same static buildup problem as the TA05 R. On the tamiya site it mentions this problem for the R but not the IFS-R. I know where to run the little wire but wondering if I need to?
