Default New Pits, better than Sorex?

Anyone been running the new Pits tires? How do they compare to the old pits and to the Sorex? How do the new numbers cross to Sorex?

i would say they are pretty close....i have not used the sorex 20.....i think the pit 20 has a longer useable life.....if i use sorex, i usually use 24-27.....i should try the 20 sorex, to know, but i like the pits...the carcass is thicker....so it is more consistent.....

The Sorex tires are quicker by .2 to .4 per lap.

I would imagine they would be fairly similar. Someone here tried them, and thought the sorex were better...Might depend on the track.

...at our local track, testing has already been done with both tires. I was not there and did not participate in the testing, but that is where ACLoco got his numbers from (correct me if I'm wrong, AC). I will be testing some of both tires this weekend on a carpet track...I'll let you know...

We have run a lot of tires at MINNREG in Tampa FL since the Pit 30/25's dissapeared a year ago. The Sorex 24/20 combo was best but at the latest race we tried the new Pit 24R's and 27R's.

I ran Pit 24R's all around with Echo Red High Traction inserts (J4430M) and others used the 24's in the rear with 27R's in front. We all went faster. A side benefit of the new Pit/Echo combo was the outstanding wear. I ran the same set from practice last Friday morning to the Mains on Sunday afternoon. I did glue up a new set to see if they were faster than the set I had been running and they ran the same lap times in practice. I decided to save the new set for the next carpet race and ran the well run set in the mains. I went faster in the mains than in any one of my qualifiers. I'm impressed.

I'll be running Pits at all carpet races next season.

Adrian,
Was it possible you were too stuck with the 24/20's.......???? Have you tried the 28/24 combo?

i have run all the tire combos....i think the pit 20 24 might be best for mod, and the 24-28 best for stock.....sorec would be the same....i used the pit med hard insert......i like them better than the hpi inserts....

Matt I'm curious to know why you choose the 28/24 Sorex over 24/20 Sorex on carpet on the Losi?

I went from 28/24 to 24/24 and finally to 24/20 and I felt the 28/24 was the worst of the bunch. I went to 24/20 and my car was fast, still dumping over a little too much but I think the low roll center will fix that. The 24/24 is what I wanted to run (for convenience sake) but the rear of the car was a little too loose.

I tried Sorex 24/20 on my Yokomo the other night and had the same results, it was as good as it had ever been. I still think that's the hot combo for Sorex indoors. Dunno about the new Pits though, I am waiting for conclusive results (like that will ever happen!) before I start dropping money on those.
