I use to have a problem with my gearing on my track as well. What i did was find out what my final gear ratio for my car was. Once I found that out i went to a website that has a rollout ratio (use web search). The formula will allow you to put in your tire diamater (mine is 58mm using foam tires) and then it will allow you to put in a spur and pinion.

I run 19 turn motors because our track is too small for mod but on 19 turn motors it was recommended to me by my car manufacturer that I should be running between a 6.2 and 6.3 gear ratio.

so the final inputs on my car is a 58mm tire, 100 tooth spur gear and 39 tooth pinion on a Komodo dragon pro and my car flies. I hope that this helps you out and I hope that I answered your question.
