I feel pretty sorry for all you guys that have partners that dislike your hobby. My better half has been to almost every race meet that I have had since I have started racing. She was even my pit chick when I was running gas. She would fuel up my car at the pit stop and after a practice run before the heat. Nowadays I only run electric and she still comes to the track all of the time. She will get out there and marshal as well if they need volunteers.
Trust me, she would much rather be out shopping for a new hand bag or getting her hair done. She really isnt an rc track kinda girl. We enjoy spending time together so she comes along to the meets. And every now and then….I will go shopping with her

My wife is pretty good with it too. I told her I wanted to go to Toronto for the Canadian Challenge and she registered me, booked the hotel, and we're even bringing our little boy and she's taking care of him the whole time without me! Wow! She's definitely a keeper!

Lol. And it was just our 9 year anniversary last Wednesday and she let me go racing for my regular evening series race!

Top that!

Slightly similar story here...

My wife has no intention of going to a meeting, despite my occasional hint into a conversation she should see what its all about

She has threatened to throw my r/c stuff away very occasionally, but I know and she knows she wouldn't, it's just her way of saying "spend some time with me and our son" (who isnt old enough to race yet, but it won't be long )

Now I make sure I get all the house stuff done first, spend time with then both as much as I can and if I know it's going to be a really big hassle to get racing i'll get her a small present. Then when I know race dates in advance I make sure she knows of them...

The golden phrase here is... Forward planning is forward thinking

Of course, it's hard to arrange a day's racing when you have children, but luckily my parents will happily look after my son when my wife works and I want to race.

On a different note though, my wife (Russian, but speaks very good English) liked to go fishing with me as she could get a sun tan, plus the first time she came she thought I ate what a caught... then I reminded how dirty the water is in the uk,LOL.
