Boomer,
Can you give us an idea on the process to get to the main strip? I see the hotel offers a single shuttle to the south end of the strip. How fast does it make the round trip?

Do the trolleys or other buses come this far south?

How about shipping our stuff to the Hotel? Will they provide decent security for our stuff until we can pick it up (**cough** unlike Snowbirds** cough**)?

Do they provide Internet access? If so, what kind, phone, broadband, wireless?

Last year each room had wireless internet access however it was not free. If I remember correctly it was around $10 for 24 hours of access.

I went to the strip once last year and took a taxi, WAY expensive. It's farther to the strip then it is to the airport. I hear there is a shuttle but did not see or try it myself. The driving lenght I would say is 10-15 mins depending on lights and traffic.

You will see when you get there but this hotel is out in the middle of the desert, far from anything else in vegas. Land must have been cheap.

Have patients, the rest of the strip will eventually connect to where the South Point is. There is a shuttle service and it used to drop you off at one of the other properties on the strip but not sure now since it changed hands already. It memory serves me it ran every half hour or something like that. I have not used it myself either since I am there with my own car and have seen all on the strip that I want to see.

James, the South Point is on The Strip, just way south of everything else. I believe you can ship stuff to the hotel for I remember them giving people their stuff at registration. As to the security of said shippment, not sure. The wireless was rather expensive but was for a 24hour period but worked in the room as well as the race area. I did not have any problems with it but some did. Hopefully Boomer can give you some more specifics since I just generalized.

Took the shuttle to the strip last year: took about half an hour, going once an hour ? ( something like that )

I hope Scotty will limit or the nr of competitors or the nr of classe's so there will be some time after racing to enjoy Vegas at evening/nights

The Shuttle last year used to go to all of the "coast" properties. The Shuttle has now changed and goes to the Mandalay Bay Resort. It leaves on the hour and leaves the Mandalay Bay Resort on the 1/2 hour for the return trip to the South Point.

Shuttle to “The Strip” (Mandalay Bay Resort) Schedule
9:00AM to 12:30AM Continuously
(time is subject to traffic conditions).
The last bus will leave South Point Hotel at midnight and will leave
Mandalay Bay Resort at 12:30AM.

The shuttle to Mandalay Bay Resort picks up outside the Silverado Ranch entrance which is located at the north entrance of the South Point Hotel. The shuttle from Mandalay Bay Resort picks up at the Beach Entrance, which is located in the lower level of Mandalay Bay. Taxi service is also available.

As far as shipping stuff ahead, I will look for feedback from some of the racers who shipped stuff to the hotel last year.

As Yeti said, they do have internet at the hotel. We will again try to work on a more affordable rate for the participants of the IIC.

Good to hear from you Frans,

We will have a HARD limit on the number of entries on the race this year. Our goal is to have everyone out of the exhibit hall by 8 or 9pm every night.

We are working on the timeline and will let everyone know what the cap for entries is. Last year we sold out in 8 days. With less entries available this year I would think that spots will go very fast for the 2007 IIC.

Shipping stuff to the hotel was really easy last year. It was supposed to be a holding fee, but that was waived. You had to show ID to pick up the package.

This was a great event last year and I can't wait to go again this year, I know that there will be a hand full of guys from Niagara that will be heading down again this year. Looking forward to being more competitve both on and off the track, my goal this year is to drink 2 3foot drinks from Carnival Court and try to remeber it lol. Any challengers?

We only race brushless now and I hate buying motors for one weekend of racing. I know a lot of people who are running this motor now. We had to do this for the Cactus Classic this weekend and it sucked.

This will be my son's first big onroad event. We went and watched last year and it was real cool. He won the Hot Bodies Cyclone in the spectator raffle.

Yeah, I'm with you. Once you go brushless, it's hard to go back. I would also like a 13.5 brushless class.

No need to buy a motor since they are handout anyhow. You would just have to get springs and brushes, as far as tuning, Brood had a stand setup last year. I did not get my lathe out all week. Hopefully they will be back this year again.

I know we had problems getting our "room" wireless internet in the hall where the racing was, we had to go out and buy a wireless extender before we were able to see the internet in the hall (approx $80)
but it was all worth it to send pics home and be on the webcam live!
