I just use the step cone that you usually get on a caulk tube. Put your bearing (without shields) on it and blast away with motor spray, cleans it in about 5 seconds, then lube. Wear eye and hand protection.

I chuck all my bearings in a jam jar, and fill the jar 1/4 full of 91 fuel. Give it a good shake for a few mins. Works fine with the seals still on, but only if they are metal. Most effective, and cheapest method I have come across.

I don't bother cleaning anymore.... They get tossed in the trash.

Avid sells bearings for $1 each. Not worth my time to clean at that price.
