Default monster horsepower motor

what are the numbers (amps drawn,RPM, Torq, power, ect.)
The Dyno labels that come on the motors are generally considered to be of little accuracy. I would try to find an Armature with the least amount of balancing done to it. This seems to make for a little more power. In my Dyno tuning on the Monster Stock, I have found that Red springs on both terminals provide an increase in power and torque with a very slight reduction in RPM. Trinity #4499 or Reedy #767 and similar compound brushes seem to work best.
As for overall power, torque, etc. It really is a matter of luck when picking motors as to which ones are better. Gearing is very important to get these Motors to perform at there best. A starting Final Drive Ratio of 7.5 to 8.0 should be good. Adjust from there based on the size of your track and how the motor feels.

i was using 767 and red springs on both post.. works great..

Trinity red springs on both poles, and Reedy 767 on (+) with Reedy 766 on (-). I've run the 4499's, but it also depends on the track.

For 1/12 4 cell on carpet, the 4499 or 767 with a vertical slot and very slightly narrowed with green springs on both seems to be working well around here.

What's recommended brushes + springs for the monster on a tight carpet track about 40x75 with two sweepers (no real straights) about 45-50 feet long? Also what should I start gearing at? (final drive) As you can see by my sig, I'm driving a Losi XXX-SGP on rubber. Thanks for the help!

I usually run trinity green on neg, red on pos, axiom 12 full 5 serr brushes.

ski- gear it at about an 8.5, you will have plenty of rip with all the rpm this motor has.

Thanks Stephen on the gearing recommendation. I can't get Axiom brushes tho! What would you recommend out of these three:

-Fantom 315

-Reedy 767

-Trinity Crosscuts

Thanks again!

I ran some 4505's this last weekend. I was very impressed. The motor had plenty of torque and rpm but the comm wear was much less than I have been having utilizing 767s. I usually get one run before it is time to cut the comm but with the 4505's I got two runs and only had to make one pass with the lathe. The brushes still have serrations too!

Steve, if you are still running trucks I would put purple springs on it. The motor has a lot of rpm and not as much torque as some others. You have a lot of tire there to get up to speed and the heavier springs will bring the torque back.
