If they did run in the rain, they would still have to use the Orion spec (slick) tire? I would think the whole spec tire thing would be the 'wrench' in the works as far as running in the rain goes...

from the team orion live feed:

News from the team managers meeting is, that due to the rain throughout the day it has been decided to wait until 20:15 CET, and if the track is dry by then, round 1 of qualifying will be continued and round 2 will begin hereafter, meaning that racing will be on to very late tonight. Who said racers need sleep ? If racing doesn't continue at 20:15 the part of round 1 which has been raced so far will be deleted and we'll start over tomorrow.

Tomorrow there will be racing no matter what weather conditions, rain or no rain, racing will be on.

Actually, here in the states both American LeMans and the Grand American Series run in the rain, as well as champcar, and all the motorcycle action. those sissies in nascar and IRL do not.

My guess is that it would be a waste of time to run in the rain for qualifying especially for the first round were it would probably be a throw away round once the track dries up.

There are only around 3 different wet tyres that are available I think. 2 Pit Shimizu ones that are 21mm and 26mm, then another Intermediate one (I think it could be made by Pit Shimizu again).

I don't think the choice of 3 tyres is going to throw a spanner in the works.

I know if it was a UK National, some people would choose to run in the wet/damp qualifying just so they can get a set up for these conditions just incase it rains for the finals.

I know that a lot of guys on this board don't care too much for RcCaraction but their coverage of this race is top notch, great job

Look at the wing , high speed loading, pushing it over... if it were F1, Honda would have already filed a formal complaint....

More straightline speed there....

This is a Yokomo Dodge Stratus Type E! This body gives more steering than the Mazda 6!
