Currently in flight on the way home from the IFMAR worlds

I’ve held the car in my hand, IMHO this is second most innovative car behind the AMX that I’ve seen

diff and drive shafts maybe the only carried over parts. Don’t go selling your current car , it’s gonna be a while

How long do you think it will be tell the new car comes out?

Can you share some of the innovations? Thanks.

Inboard shocks like Xray

rccartips 11-10-2024 11:09 PM

Inboard shocks are nice change but have been tried in 90s - early 2000s. TQ was with outboard shocks.

Shock position does not seem to be the game changer (A800R, X4, Mi9) are all different.

Any real new innovation and not a rehash of old designs way back?

To be fair, the x4 is the Mugen MTC2 but designed by Xray

Please... why does everyone think a great designer like Pietsch will copy Xray... cars he has designed have been copied by others (Infinity) namely the MRX5/6... as well as other chassis copied from Mugen. It will clearly be Mugen.

Based on the questions I asked, and what I saw the only shims on the car are for the lower arms, so for all your other suspension parts roll centers, there are no shims, and they seem to be adjusted by being able to slide up and down left/ right and even the shocks I have this feature where they don’t have mounting holes they just slide a position how you need. The two slickest part of the car or the arms mount to the car and a motor mount and split deck. Trust me on this part you’re gonna love

The new car from a visual standpoint has the IT factor, Ronald and Jacob came to fight and this new car were the boxing gloves

who said copied lol Im a realist and realize all manufactures are now converging on designs. But Yes I know Robert's track record, I think we can all assume he wont release anything that isn't good just to sell kits. Glad I got to talk to Robert on on saturday after everything. You can see the great passion he has for the hobby.

The bulkheads are a thing of beauty. I hope Robert keeps that adjustment system but I have feeling it's it might be more for them to try a lot of things really quick and decide what doesn't really need a huge range of adjustment. The top was interesting how it completely different it is from what everyone is doing.

Not bad for a car that hit the track for the first time the weekend and jacob's car was built on the Saturday before. I say The mtc3 had a great doubt given how little time the car has been on the track.

Of course it's not in the case of Mugen, they're the last still using what's now considered big shocks. So for Mugen, its huge a change but relative to everyone else it's now not. Remember, what didn't work back then may be the hot ticket now.

yeah cars are much faster and a lot lighter now. The TC8 also has inboard shocks

It's all about getting cars to rotate with grip levels being much higher now than before. Manufactures are no longer worried about getting the car to roll to generate more grip. The way tires work are also much different. Basically, if you aren't using small inboard shocks, you won't have the same rotation as other cars do. That was evident with Volker's pace this yr. Give him a car is like the rest and now he is back.

Something to consider how huge that shock change. Jacob went from possibly just a B-main showing to making the showing. He shaved off a couple 10ths from his lap time and the car was the major difference. Would've been nice if they would've had more time with the car.

I hope that's not true, shims are so much easier to get quick even adjustment changes than trying to measure exactly how far you need to slide something.
