I need another mini rally car chassis like... well you know the saying. However, I think I'm going to have to get one of these!

Little hard to tell. 210mm wheelbase? Rear part looks adjustable to 225mm?

edit: seems all 3 wheelbase options will work!

This chassis looks ripe for a Rally Porsche 959 re-release

I was wondering that myself. The graphic on tbe box underneath the chassis shows longer wheelbase. Or maybe I’m overthink it

I bought the body set of the Fiat 131 and kept looking at the MF01X and then said, no no no, not going that route.

This looks like the correct route

Finally proper 4WD m-chassis, although it probably won't be as good as M07/8 for onroad due to high CG... Now Tamiya could also release M-chassis tires that actually work 😃

It also opens new possibilities for other chassis modification. The suspension seems to combine XV-01/2 arm mounts with M-07 uprights - so it should be possible to built M07/8 rally spec using the outdrives.. or a mini XV-01 using whole suspension and custom chassis.

I'm also pretty interested in the separated rear gearbox - if it's done right, it could allow to make a custom chassis for XV-02

I already have a XV-02 and this seems like a mini version of it. I don't see the need to buy this for myself – but nevertheless it's a cool kit and I can't wait what people will do with this car, especially with the wide range of rallye body options Tamiya does provide for the platform.

Here is my recommendation. Sell the XV02 and get an XV01, which “imo” is a far better car, then you can get an XM-01 😉

Me having no experience with the XV02, how is the XV01 better? The XV01 is certainly different if one wants a unique chassis.

It’s belt driven, which makes it very smooth. Front motor with all wheel drive allows rear to step out of you want it to or you can just power into turn with throttle. XV02 achieves with over drive gearing.

It’s fully sealed versus having a lexan cover. Bullet proof gear box. Battery sits flat and low, not on its side. Just a great chassis.

Yup, I need this for the upcoming summer, just built a little track in the front yard that would be perfect for this.

Now I also need to find a XV01...
