Default Serpent X20 ‘24

Well, well, what do we have here? Overall, it looks like a lot of refining, although the chassis is definitely new/updated, and because the car has new, flex shock mounts similar to other cars recently released, I also wonder if the bulkheads are once again new parts:

RedRC always seems to publish these updates DAYS before Serpent even updates their own site, lol… but once it shows up there, they are usually available to order from Serpent CN within a few weeks, and not much longer from the EU/NA.

Looks like diff, motor mount, (lower) bulkheads, A-arms, steering knuckles are the same. Then come refinements in the driveshafts, lower and upper deck. It's available on their site with the manual and hi res pics. Looks neat, but I start to wonder, if the only USP of different brands will be the style of A arms, where the rest of the chassis look all like Awesomatix A800MMX?

Why is every brand so locked in on their electronics layout for example, when there's more effective stuff around there (h2e four)?

Most drivers dont want to shoe horn electronics into a TC like a 12scale car.
Or have wires running all over like a power line in a dirt world country.

Just remind me when Oleg has chosen performance over beauty, and all other brands follow 2 years later - that it's been a good idea >)

Hmm, interesting that it showed up on the “New Products” page and not on the main page, but anyway, as mentioned above, it’s there, and available if you want to buy it from Serpent CN direct:

https://www.serpent.com/xcart/medius...ab-description

I like the fact that they went with the wide stirrups front and rear - those tiny ball bearings held by only c-clips were a liability. The “flex-bridge” system they added looks interesting, as is the updated servo mount/receiver plate, although I have to admit that I still miss the weight management options the ‘21 had, even if some holes are effectively useless in the rear if you have an ESC for Mod racing.

Looks like this will be an easy upgrade for a ‘23, despite the sting of buying a new chassis.

Just because a design doesn’t look perfect, doesn’t mean it isn’t better.

My man hops on every new car thread and talks about his car.

"better" can mean 1000 different things.

I looked at this quickly and noticed the rear camber arms have turnbuckles and the fronts do not. Any reason for this? I figured it would be simpler to keep all four the same.

Sorry for boring you with 'my car stuff'. I don't know if I am the only one who is missing diversity in new car designs. But you are right. I should stop hijacking other threads with my bullshit.

The general design was introduced on the ‘23. Here’s my take: with the changes introduced, the turnbuckle design allows for a greater degree of RC/camber change on the outside of the rear arms, by way of the small link mount plate that installs onto the hub. This allows for a level of adjustment that could not have been made with the previous pillow ball design. Sure, they could have applied this to the front as well, but I would venture to guess that a) this might affect durability/geometry up front, since that hub also has to pivot on the vertical axis for steering, and b) perhaps team drivers are happy with the adjustability they have up front, and needed more in the rear. I mean, if it ain’t broke, why fix it?

I took a peek at the manual for the new '24... so many nice features on this car that the marketing doesn't even touch on!
