Haha! Like your style Clint. I've been thinking about doing a floating servo mount for my "version 2". I hadn't thought about a floating steering rack though. Can I steal your idea? I've been away from RC for about 6 years and am just learning about all the current trends. So it looks like version 2 will be narrower, MUCH lighter, and less connection to the top deck. I'll tell you what. You let me steal your floating rack idea and I'll make a second chassis for you at cost + shipping. I have no idea what the shipping would cost but it should be waaaay cheaper than $220 ;-)

Default Diff Covers

I am thinking of running my evo5 ms for the Reedy this year. I see a few of you guys run without you diff covers. What has your experience been with that? Looking to put the TB04 gear diff in.

The Tamiya track is prepped very well. It would be highly unlikely for you to have any debris get stuck between the gears. I would avoid dirty parking lot tracks though. Make sure to inspect everything between rounds during the Reedy race. There is very limited track time. You don't want to loose out presious track time.

Get the Evo6 gear diff parts. That's the upgraded and lighter diff version. One more tip. If you switch to Evo4 larger gears. The drive train is instantly much more free.

Hi Bensi,

I was at Tamiya last week. The asphalt is breaking up with LOTS of debris right now

Like Juan says clean out the teeth every run. The covers will not fit over the TB04 diff but it will still run nicely. I would run spool up front with the cover and then put a lexan shield over the rear input gear. The direction of the rear gear wants to suck debris in from the top fyi.

Are you running 13.5 or 17.5?

Thanks for the tips guys.

Mike,

I'll be running 17.5, haven't ran since we pitted at the FredTech race. Reedy is going to be awesome. Any word on your new chassis?

B.

If you are running 17.5 you almost don't need a diff gear- the weight difference from ball diff to TB04 gear diff is huge and the ball diff really doesn't diff out (if built right) with 17.5

Just waiting on top plates. The machinist is backlogged so looking like June at this point. Will be worth the wait I think

Default Looking for EVO 5

Looking for an EVO 5. No luck on the "want to buy" thread, "for sale" thread or ebay so I thought I'd ask here. Or if anyone has a spare "A" bulkhead PN 3455963 I'm interested in it also.
