Does anyone know if the schumacher gear diff will fit and work in the awesomatix A12? Also what size spur gear can you use with the gear diff?

Has anyone had a bad experience building the awesomatix gear diff?

I am used to XRAY instructions so take it as you will.
I thought the instructions to build the awesomatix gear diff sucked and I was never able to get it as free as I could the XRAY gear diff. That being said it's still way better than a ball diff and I can now gear correctly. If they were available again in mass I would buy a few more. Unless of course XRAY releases a gear diff that supports a spur gear with 10-15 less teeth than the current one, but I'm not holding my breath.

I never had a problem with the ASMX gear diff. There is one piece that needs to go in a specific way, but it's mentioned in the instructions. The nut that locks it all down is quite thin so you'll need a decent 12mm wrench. ASMX sells a 3D printed wrench to help with this. The allowable gear sizes are mentioned in the literature.

I just use a 12mm 1/4" drive socket for that nut. It only needs to be finger tight.

I literally just use my fingernails. Never had it come undone on me.

No issues with smoothness with my Awesomatix gear diff too. In fact, I think it might be smoother than my Xray diff, but it does take a little more effort for maintenance and tear-down.

It’s smooth… I couldn’t get it as free / loose. With the XRAY diff and no oil, it will basically act as a free diff. With the Awesomatix it gives me resistance even with no oil.

Nothing more than a light oil lubrication of the gears works well for me in the same condition.

There are 4 holes in the nut that you can just stick a driver in to get a bit more grip.
