There are 3d printed front shock mounts out there for xv-02. The design files are free. Just need a printer or a friend with a printer. I used them and all my xv-01 shells just dropped on.

Ahh, self-machining parts.

You can help this along sometimes by wrapping a bit of 1000-grit emery paper around the spinning part and letting it sand the interfering part mirror-smooth. I've done that before with C-hubs that didn't have quite enough vertical clearance to accommodate the CVDs after I extended the suspension travel.

Default Metal Diff Internals

So has anyone figured out what metal bevel gears and metal cross shafts fit the XV-02 front & rear diff housings? I'm looking to upgrade the four plastic gears and plastic cross shaft to metal. Maybe some TRF parts are interchangeable?

Thanks

Hi. Not sure about the metal bevels as I just kept the composite ones which seem to work well HOWEVER I did get the metal cross shafts which made a huge difference to the smoothness of the diff. You may be able to work out which metal bevels to get from the cross shafts. Here's what I ordered: Tamiya 9804852/19804852 2.8x23.4mm Cross Shaft (2 Pcs.) TRF419/TRF420/TA07R, BTW They are STUPID EXPENSIVE!! 🤑

Tamiya 58726 1/10 RC XV-02RS Pro Chassis Kit

Tamiya is pleased to announce this exclusive PRO version for the 4WD rally chassis with shaft drive. based on article 58707 XV-02 PRO Chassis kit – in the XV chassis series; this time the kit is mostly on-road oriented, and features upgrades like this such as dedicated 3.5mm thick carbon fiber shock absorber tubes, aluminum cylinder oil shock absorbers employing the appropriate shaft length for road performance and carbon fiber reinforced rigid lower deck.

Model information:
• 1/10 scale R/C chassis assembly kit.
• Features oil filled shock absorbers with aluminum cylinders employing a shaft length suited to road performance and dedicated 3.5mm thick carbon fiber shock mounts and carbon fiber reinforced rigid lower deck.
• 18-spoke wheels are paired with semi-slick racing tyres.
• Mid-front positioned engine plus long front and rear drive shafts of equal length.
• Comes with two 39T differential gears and one 40T differential gear for front and rear wheel drive adjustment.
• Use 39-tooth gears (with 15-tooth gears) on the front and rear for standard drivetrain balance, 39-tooth gears (with 15-tooth gears) on the front, and 40T gear (with 15T gears) on the rear for the balance of the forward drivetrain and vice versa for the balance of the rearward lean drivetrain. *Use the latter two with slipper clutch and center differential.
• Longitudinal battery pack is positioned center left for optimum balance.
• The flat underbody of the chassis and the angle of slip on the front bumper further contribute to limiting surface contact.
• Caster blocks have a six degree angle.
• Includes front and rear universal drive shafts and an aluminum servo mount.
• Please note that a polycarbonate frame cover is not included in this version.

Seems like it is like the XV-01 TC variant (more geared to onroad).

XV-01 made sense, as the chassis was relatively low CG and the TC variant got onroad suspension from TRF416 - and by removing the rear drivetrain, you essentially got a cheap version of FF-04.

XV-02 doesn't make much sense as onroad - the chassis shape doesn't allow low ride height, which adds to already high cog.. and it still has stock suspension. It's basically just XV-02 short damper spec.

Yep, seems like a bit of a half-assed attempt. And at least on asphalt, my XV-02 doesn't handle good but that was to be expected.

RTV silicone sealant will make anything dustproof.
