how about the narrow wishbones that yokomo has just released think the cyclone has a narrow track aswell |

I guess to find real variants with the track and the wheelbase we could measure diagonals be interesting to see how much each car is different.

T2 front track adjustable from 183-186mm, rear adjustable 186 -189mm. Can also add further adjustment by 1mm offset hex's.

is this why the newer cars are/seam faster on tracks nowaday`s
being on shorter wheel bases 415 runs around 257mm this is a whole 3mm shorter then what the SD can get (shortest this can get is 260mm), std setup is with 2mm spacers either side of wishbone is 264mm so this is whole different planet i.a.s hurry up & measure the tc3/4 jobby |
Short wheelbase's aren't really new to xray, original T1 could run between 252 and 261 mm. I just think the others are catching on to the small tricks that they used to pass by more quickly now.

Here it goes
255mm - 262mm But im using losi rear hubs which may change the length I run the car at 257mm That the Ft tc4 |
surely shorter wheelbase will make the car unstable and twitchy?
manufacturers must set the sheelbase to the optimum setting for its weight distribution etc. little changes in wheelbase makes a big difference so dont go too mad hehehe |
A friend of mine and I were having this conversation last week. He has built a Yokomo SD and a Schumacher both for foam on carpet. Both are very fast, even in the hands of different drivers. His conclusion is that cars should be around 260mm, with the ability to move 2-3mm shorter or longer.

I remember racing my SD in oh... 2004 outdoor season. I was scratching my head as to how these other cars were goin thru corners soo much faster (better rotation). I ended up shortening my wheelbase all the way down and it did the trick. So I can understand what's goin on here. I notice alot of the japanese market cars are/were designed for long wheelbase. Also reminds me when I think Tosolini drove for Yokomo and he shortened/ground down his arms for shorter wheelbase on carpet/foams. Hmmm interesting that you bring this up...
