Hi guys, love the car and I'm thinking of swapping brands but the specialised wheels are a turnoff.
Any idea if an xray axle setup would fit? Got a few of those... Thx |

At our track, the spec tire from Contact that fits the hex axle works just as well as the CRC tire and is cheaper. I like the easier tire changes with the single wheel nut vs 3 screws. However, you can get the 3 hole hubs from Schumacher if you want to use those style wheels. I have both. I use the contact tires with the hex when possible and the 3 hole hubs when necessary.
I saw the spec tire was fairly cheap, still gotta look into those. I have to say, the problem I find with 1/12th is the huge choice of tires and compounds. Spec tire always looked like a great idea to me. |

Yes it does. Just requires a different spacing on the axle to get it centred properly.
But with xray you never know 😁. Their sidelinks are even not quite the same as the other brands so you can only use theirs... |
Btw, how do the damper tubes as central damper hold up? Redo them once a day or something like that?

On my Icon I do it every other race but run very thick oil. Its fairly quick to do, love how fairly low maintenance it is. I imagine it wouldn't hurt to do it every race on the Eclipse to keep the handling consistent.

I’ve been messing with 5k-15k. Thinner it gets the more it’s gonna leak. Still beats having a shock 🤷♂️

Can confirm the purple stripe Contacts work good and the price is awesome. I don't think I am a good enough driver to truly tell if they are about same as the CRC purple stripe. Need more run time.

Purple stripes (or blue stripe JFT) are the spec tire almost everywhere in the US for all 1/12th scale classes, except modified. Contact's version of the purple stripe tire is the best value. DiscountRCstore.com sells full sets for a little over $16.00. racing-cars.com may be a little less expensive after currency conversion, but they have been out of stock for a while. |

I had the prototype ones, almost three years ago and we tested them back to back with the crc's lap times were consistant. I gave a couple of sets to the bigger Northwest 12th scale drivers to take home and try. Slapmaster had a set or 2. He confirmed our testing we did here in Canada. The only difference was the rim softer at the time. Update just rechecked Brian's email he whished the wheel was a little softer then it was. |
Anybody seen the bare hex wheels in stock state side? Schumacher is out of stock on them. Wanna see about prepping for some open tire races. Would like to possibly mount some Ulti’s, Bomber and Yoke foam.
