what will putting shimms under my suspension arm mounts do. Front ,front and rear and rear, rear and front. EX. If i shim my rear front mount up 1mm the rear arms will be leaned back,what this do? Can someone give examples of f&r setups and the effect on handling? Thanks

If you were to shim the front of the rear arm mount, it increases anti-squat. This helps to keep your vehicle a little more level when accellerating. If you shimmed the rear of the rear arm mount, it creates anti-dive. This helps to keep the vehicle level when braking. Shimming under the front of the front arm mount adds caster to the steering. Increased negative caster helps the car to track straighter and also adds negative camber when you turn the wheels giving you a little more turn in.

I'm no expert but when I made a few changes with my T2 and read the setup book afterwards it did the opposite of what was "supposed to happen" according to that book. I was also told by quite a few guys to not believe everything in that book.

I just try the adjustment and then drive the car. If I can tell the difference and I like it, it stays. If not, then it goes back to what it was before. Sometimes it does what it is "supposed" to do sometimes it doesn't.

shimming your hinge pin blocks up or down changes roll center.it also allows you to add anti squat,pro squat,anti dive and pro dive.

i basicly run rubber tire asphalt and use these adjustments often.i always need to watch tire wear.it is difficult to get just right.it takes time.the lower the blocks the more traction i get,as i raise them it will start to break traction .the problem you run into is that you need to find the point where you have the traction you are looking for without eating or overheating the tires.once i find where i want to be i start adjusting weight transfer.there are so many adjustments on todays cars that you will find it difficult to fine tune every adjustment.stick with the coarse adjustments and then just fine tune.
