6 cell nimh is great but lipo is lighter .. |
True, but 1000 cycles vs 2-300, No chance of real nasty mishaps and the ability to charge at 2-4c is mighty attractive. You're right about the nimh weight issue-I was thinking about going back to Nicads. I've had to many nimhs self destruct sitting on the shelf. Don

I am a hardcore silver can fan. Pretty quick with a d-drive, fair with a mini, and $18 for a motor that will last forever in most any car. I have some from the '80's that are still making laps. What is funny to me is that this thread has almost 1500 post about a motor that is about as complicated as a door stop. Gotta love'em!

This is crazy, i was thinking that silver cans were like the hardcore spec motor. after reading this thread a bit it seems to be the F1 of motors. trying to get every inch of performance out of these simpletons. I love the R&D side of F1 more than the racing side so this stuff is very intriguing to me. I honestly thought you get a drop in can and you're competitive. Very nice.

The technology of F1 is what keeps me glued to the TV every race. Well, that and the cars, tracks, flag girls, you know the deal. But when our F1 cars linup we have to buy the gas, the food, pay the entry fee, etc. We have a faster F1 class for those who like the speed. I have used the tuned 540's and the red dots but I just seem to keep coming back to the $18 'cans to race with my buds. Sometimes fast is not as fun.

Quick question. What is everyone using now instead of Trinity Bushing Buster? I haven't had any for years and can't find any for sale now (no longer on the Trinity website). I plan on buying a Red Dot for major races (Slash off road series) but need to break in a practice/heat motor.

Ran my first TCS race over the weekend in GT-1. Was a little bored only running 3 heats in 10 hours, so I want to run another class, and lo and behold my only motor choice is a silver can. I would run GT-2 and have never run a sliver can motor. I won't waste your time by asking about break in and maintenance, I can read about it here. I have no idea where to start for gearing. I will be running at Tamiya USA only in GT-2 with a TA-05 version 2 R. Any advice on gearing and temps would be greatly appreciated.
