in my opinion there are no "best" in the rc world only preferences.
i've been beaten by losi, yokomo, hpi, assoc, etc, it all depends on who's driving it, i had a tc3 and now have a xxx-s is the xxx-s better then the tc3. no. i just prefer how it drives. you'll find the same thing with mod motors. if you get them for free you think that one is the best. if you just got done paying 65 bucks for it you want to tell everyone its the best to justify getting it. mod motors usually spin over 40,000 rpm so its the gearing and timing that will determine how fast. and while there is no best, there is alot of junk.

Red face ha...

... the good ole nitro Vs Electric topic...

However I don't understand why you chose such a subversive title for your question...

anyways... Ritchie is right on. No "best" motors. Lotsa POS's on the market, though...

Default Nitro vs Electric

Maxboost;

You will occasionally see a Mod Electric that can keep up with the Nitro Cars on a larger straight-away. So... How about 50 plus Mph!
I resently watched a 1/10th Nitro Yokomo kick some butt on some 1/8 scale cars.

Well, check out RC Car Action a few months back.

They had a drag race of elec vs nitro.

The electric won. But it was VERY close.

At the onroad track I race at the electric mod cars are going way faster than the nitro, and there are some Really good nitro drivers there that have won Regionals and go on to World competition.

But it is preference.

An electric can holds the current speed record... what more is there to say?

very low turn mod motors (6-10x) can do upwards of 120km/h

On a closed course, a stock electric car is usually just as fast, if not faster, than any nitro car. The nitro will pass teh electric in the straight, but the electric will be back ahead of the nitro before the cars get back to the start of the straight...

i agree with ritchie.no best,oni preference...
i have 2 EP cars,a highly hop-up ta04r n a highly hop-up xxxs,i feel tat my 04r is faster,but the xxxs is more stable...
an EP car with a low-turn mod brushless motor should have no problem keeping up with a nitro, but if u ask mi,then run time is an issue...

What kind of Electric are you comparing with? 1/10 Pan Car (fastest electric car) to nitro, 1/10 is just outright faster than nitro at any time.

TRF414M :
Hmmmm if a 1/10 pan car is fast.. then how about those 1/12 cars with six cells? I drove a loaner before and it was scary cept that it was very very sensitive in the corners

Can the chassis really handling the low turn? Currently, 1/12th is leaning toward 4 cells. That's why I bought a Pro 10 and give it a try.

We run 12th scaler on 6 cells in Europe... with low-wind motors.

it is SCARY fast.

Now, this is getting scary. Six cells with 8 turn single. I can't imagine the speed of the car.

In car action about a year ago, wasnt there a company that was coming out motors that could do 30, 40, then 60 mph?

I believe that was Orion or peak that planned on releasing motors like that...Which is stupid if you ask me, because alot of it depends on your equipment.
