Can-Am RC Series

Sad part is the 25.5 were some of the most blatantly low IR's i've rejected at motor tech the last 2 years. Too many people trying to slip previous years un-submitted motors by. But at least they were easy to catch.

I’m sure they will have spurs available at the track to help get the correct fdr, but Destiny USA will be there with gears also.

Hanulec and the rest of the Can Am folks aren't doing this as part of some vast conspiracy. They saw a problem in on road racing. The biggest complaint they heard was high cost and rapidly changing motors in the spec classes. They came up with a solution where the motors are as equal as possible, and they have to be returned to the track so no one can do any tricks with the motors. Is it a perfect solution? Probably not, but the tracks that have tried this solution are seeing bigger turnouts at their weekly club races. But put 20 people on a thread in a message board and you'll get 20 different and vastly opposing opinions. All of racing is like this.
Hey, I think it's great you can do well without falling for the stuff of the month scam. I'm not trying to take a shot at you. Let's see what happens with the Can Am series, and make some comments after they run some races.

I'm adding nothing to the discussion that hasn't been hashed-out within this thread - but for whatever it's worth here goes: I'll travel to every "big" race this year and I'm thrilled that I can take "make sure I have the motor/rotor of the week" off of my checklist of race prep. Beyond the fact that Can Am is leveling the playing field, it's also giving us the gift of time at the track. I don't have to waste track time trying to figure out a gear and I don't have to go around the pits asking "what FDR are you at?" I only have to focus on one thing, chassis and my driving. This makes practice time that much more efficient.

JimL. I appreciate what the guys are trying with the Can Am stuff. I just think it will add to the cost to half the racers and help the other half save money. In my 26 years of racing, it seems the same people always show up with questionable equipment. Everyone is scared of losing business or lawsuits to call them out and do a suspension of some sort so things like Cam Am has to be at least tried. Unfortunately I won't be able to get to a big race until after the Hudy this year, so I hope to hear good things from the races until then.
