Robitronic Avid V2's are here and ready to ship. All pre-orders are shipping out today. Aluminum and carbon fiber parts will follow a week later. Many of the suspension parts are the same as the Avid. An Avid V2 parts section will be set up by the end of the week.

Cheers,
Jeff

Can anyone with driving experience with the V2 comment on how it compares to the current lot (T3, Mi4, Cyclone TC, etc) when it comes to med traction asphalt?

I will have my first ourdoor run next week-end for our 2rnd of french national championship!

I didn't have any chance to practice before the race because of poor weather here.

I will keep you inform after the race and I hope I will be able to give you a nice starting setup for rubber asphalt.

For my carpet setup, I am still waiting for the setup sheet to be availaible.

ask Duy (local racer at West Coast and visits SpeedtechRC every now and then).. he's had the T2'009 and Cyclone TC (along with the TC5 and 416). he has the Avid2. im sure he'll be able to give you some feedback on it.

Steven.
Specificity here is that we run Sweep36 as controled tyres for the season. These tyres have a lot of gap and are giving high grip.

For our races here on carpet with very high grip and these tyres, the kit setup is too aggressive on the steering and the car rolls even on the first pack. So I work to make it easier to drive and to avoid rolls

Difference for my setup from the kit setup are:
- Much More 500 oil
- HPI silver spring front and rear (softer than original springs)
- whishbone 1mm more in the rear on front and rear end (3/1mm and 3/1mm shims)
- i use 2.5 mm shims under all front and rear blocks instead of 1.5mm in the stock kit
- downstops: 6mm front /5mm rear
- rear inside ball link on the higher inside hole instead of lower inside hole
- less screw on the top deck
- mod steering
- rear ackerman point

Hello everyone! I have just received my Avid V2 kit, and planning to start building tomorrow. I'll take some pictures, and measure weights of the transmission parts.

OK, I couldnt wait, and started building this afternoon, and finished lower arms and bulkheads. First things I want to say;

-Good packaging, need to open one packet to finish a part.
-Optional 2 degree caster blocks included!
-4mm downstop screws, so it will be more consistent.
-Some 0.25mm shims are included for eliminating lateral play of the lower arms included. I needed to add 0.2 shims for rear lower arms, while front arms didnt need any to have no play.
-Screws are brilliant!
-Front solid axle weighs 20.7grams with bearings and eccentric holders.

I would really like to get one of these cars, but here is my worry: Will a LiPo pack fit on this car? If so, what size LiPo packs? If not, what did you have to shave or grind in order for the LiPo battery to fit?

Agreed, why is this car not Lipo Specific?

I am asuming it will be the same as the Avid just cut /gring the battery holders back to minimum for (smc 4000 packs ) any thing over that take the rear one out ,put a stopper on the inside rear hole to stop the battery from slideing towards the belt and tape. This is all that i have done with my smc 5200/40 batteries and works a treat.
But yes in these times where lipos are more widely used all manufactures should have lipo decks.

There is a new option lipo tray for the Avid V2. I do not have a part number for you right now since I'm not in the office, but on Monday, I'll post the part number for the new lipo tray.

Had some progress on building today...
-Diff bulkhead screws which connects to the chassis are too close to each other, so you should do the final tightening after connecting the upper deck, and shock tower.
-Bearing grease is too thick to my taste. I sprayed some alcohol and lubed with serpent bearing oil instead.
-There are extra roll center/wheelbase shims, and spare plastic drive blades come with the kit.
-Rear diff is relatively easy to build, especially for me, because its my 2nd time building a ball diff. I was suprised how loose and smooth I can adjust it without having slippage. My only concern is that pulley cover diameter is a little bigger than it should be, so it can exceed from the bottom of the chassis. It also uses an allen screw,so to make adjustments, I'll need to remove one driveshaft when its on the car.
-Big shims to eliminate lateral play of the wheel axles are included.
-CVD set with wheel hub weights 6.7grams.
-On front, driveshaft to spool outdrive is a tight fit, so it can effect the suspension movement for first runs. After breakin of the car, I think the problem will be solved.
