Tamiya TRF103

Shout out to the Hobby Plex crew. The Event was run well and we all got out early enough to Catch our planes. A good nationals.

Just got back to the hobby after almost 20 years. I purchased a TRF103 from a forum member and just finished rebuilding it. How are you guys holding a shorty battery down in the transverse position? If tape, how are you taping it down? The manual doesn't show this at all. The previous owner already trimmed down the middle deck center tabs (is this TCS legal?) but there is some fore & aft movement. Is that okay?

Uneven caster
Got my setup system yesterday and measured trf103 to set the toe and steering throw, but found that the casters of left and right are uneven. The right one measured 2.0 but left one measured 2.5. I use default BB13 blocks and assembled them right. Since the caster is set by blocks, to my understand, it shouldn’t have such problems. What I missed or what to check? Any ideas? Thanks in advance ; )

Ok
The assembly is slightly tweaked. You'll want to loosen the 4 screws holding the plate around the servo and twist the plate until you have the matching camber on both sides and then retighten. That's the problem with insert type suspensions and is probably why we sell a lot of these;

Thx a lot Mike. I gonna rebuild the front end of the car. Already got motor plate and soft spring set from Exotek for it. Also had Exotek upper arms and ifs suspension set in my shopping cart since I got the car. Just want to run it as stock at first and upgrade when things got worn out or broken in accidents.

If there is, it will be announced at the Shizuoka hobby show in May (maybe some CAD renderings before then).

Sorry to bump up an old thread, just had a question regarding the chassis.Looking to get into F1 racing, my LHS has a TRF103 for sale. I know it has been discontinued, but was there a particular reason? I see the TRF102 is still being sold.
Was wondering, if I were to get the 103, am i going to have a hard time with replacement parts, etc?
Am i better off having them order a TRF102 for me? I'm all about instant gratification, but wouldn't mind waiting for them to order one in.
I'm just a middle of the pack driver, so mostly looking for the option to give me the longest life cycle, however, i have to take into consideration which is the better car or that will drive me nuts too.
Just looking for any info anyone can provide. Thanks.
