Yokomo MR-4 TC Thread

maski, probably ballstud or pivot ball.
No, they only sell two MR-4 rear bulkheads, one is for the rally and you don't want it because it only has one hole for role center adjustment and also adds anitsquat.

MR4TC special RS version
a lower spec version of the SP with
-plastic shocks
-composite bulkheads and shock towers instead of graphite
-plastic center fixed pulley instead of one way
-new front one way with the larger bearings
-steel turnbuckles instead of titanium
-only one set of front anti roll bars and the pivot balls are glued onto the anti roll bar instead of attached using a grub screw
-rear anti roll bar also glued on the pivot balls
-bushings instead of ball bearings for the steering pivots
-steel steering pivots instead of blue aluminium
-plastic wheel adapters instead of aluminium clamp on
-silver springs instead of yellow
-stronger steel universals front and rear instead of blue aluminium ones
that shld be more or less abt the differences. i bought the RS version but feel that the original SP version is more worth it.

Thanks for posting that. Sounds like a good deal to me, depending on the price difference. Upgrade to a center one-way, and add bbs for the steering and lighter driveshafts, and there is nothing there that will make it slower on the track than the full special version. Josh

I'd run one(If I didn't already have a converted SP)as I don't think many of the concessions to get the price lower, really affect it all that badly.
They(RS) are on sale in NZ for $595(LHS), Unfortunately the SP can be bought for $100 more if you look in the right place.
So the cut price idea doesn't really stack up here.

Thanks kyew and Speedo! but they also sell a complete version which is much expensive than the usual SP kit.
That's like the custom!

one more thing left out:
the front arms are of the more durable nylon type(one solid block wth no cut outs inside).
no changes for the rear arms: they are the new adjustable wheelbase type.
performance wise, to the club racer there's no difference. any skilled driver can easily win with the standard RS version.

does yokomo sells lightweight ballstuds (alum or titanium)?
titanium screws are a bit expensive. if i'm not mistaken, they sell a piece of ti screw at least $3.
anyknow what the part number of an alum or ti rear hub pivot ball if there is?

Yeah, there really don't seem to be a whole lot of Yokomo posters, could mean people have really figured the car out now, or maybe just not many people race one any more, or a combination...

I just hit a very effective carpet/foam setup last time out, the car was absolutely amazing to drive. Basically I'm using the upper holes for the inner hingepins, lower outer holes in back and upper outer in front, orange springs all around with 30wt and 3 hole pistons. I think the thing that really made the car come alive was moving the inner end of the rear camber links to the bulkhead along with the Tosolini hub carrier mod. The car just rotates through the corner now without scrubbing any speed and absolutely launches out of the corners like it has JATO.

Foams sound fun, I'm really hope our track adopts them for next season.
