What type of track? If it is an outdoor dirt track. A Short Course would be a good choice of durability and growth potential.

I would probably get her a crawler... that's how Malin Karlsen got started:

Fairly cheap crawler here:

Most kids seem to do better with a bigger vehicle. 1/10 is better size. Trail truck/crawler might work. Short course truck would be solid start. Get a clear body, let her pick color, even paint it.
Kids can usually pick up driving fairly quick. It's stopping that they struggle with. Kids fingers are just too small for most controllers

Of the controllers I've personally held, I think this one here would be manageable for small kids, it's one of the smallest controllers I've seen:

my 5 y/o started with the ecx ruckus (torment) we already had .. once I felt like he was going to stick with it long enough to warrant the investment we upgraded to a sc5m and I'm very happy we did .. night and day at the track ..
controller was an issue for his little 5y/o hands when it came to braking .. solved this with some heat shrink and a piece of dense foam.. Have since added this to all our controllers to make sure he can stop things

Yup. Foam on trigger helped. The little dudes would find some creative ways to hold controller. That one Bill posted above looks like a good size.
