Default Another gearing question, advice needed please

There is always some debate on this no matter how many times I research it so I figured I would try to be as specific as possible and ask.

I just bought an 8ight Te 3.0 and built it. Note...this truggy is just for fun, I don't race at all. The second time I took it out I threw my proline road rage 3.8's on and did some street driving with multiple decently high speed passes but just messing around mostly. I know my temps were within normal limits but I had to take a few couple minute breaks to make sure it didn't get too hot. My esc was around 80-90, motor was 161, and lipos are hard case so the temp wasn't accurate but they were warm, not hot. Ambient temp was 38 deg Fahrenheit.

My current setup is a Tekin Rx8 Gen 2 esc and 2000kv motor combo running 12/45 gearing. Some people always so gear down but I feel like I was just running high rpms on the motor consistently creating heat and that I should gear up as its undergeared. What do you guys think/recommend. I have 11,12,14,15t pinions to play with.

Thanks!
Nick

If it were me, I would try a 14 or a 15.... If you're doing speed runs, you could probably my get away with a 16t paired to the 45.

Fwiw....I'm running the same truck, and ESC. Only difference is I run a buggy 1900. I run 15/45 on a med-high bite track. I might see °170ish after 10 min of hard race action.
