Serpent SDX4 1/10 4wd buggy Thread

Where does it say it can be run as a 2wd? Would that be the cheesy option of removing the front drive components?

Coming soon from Serpent is the SDX4 1/10th 4WD buggy kit. The buggy was pretty successful already in prototype stages with Jörn Neumann having taken the 2016 EFRA European 4WD Buggy title. The vehicle is based on a hard-anodised aluminium chassis that allows for a variety of different motor and battery layouts while its simple design and shaft drivetrain make maintenance and setup easy. After removing a handful of transmission parts the car can also be run as a 2WD which can be a hot ticket for very high-bite tracks.

This wheeler looks realy nice, but for me this is a pure durango!
Ok, Gerd Strenge is the designer of the original team durango dex410/ serpend s500, but when i look at the pics from the worlds 2013, of the dex410 prototyp spy shots, it looks to me, they went back to that layout and worked on it to bring this car.....!?

I don't see mention of center diff either, though it looks possible with a different top-brace and using the extra holes in the chassis.

I'm only finding a drawing of a normal saddle installation with the center bridge brace in place. Probably a non-issue. I can't see anybody choosing anything other than a short pack. Drivers are choosing this layout on cars that were designed for balance with saddles (22-4, Current SRX4).

Looks like a separate block will be needed for toe and kickup changes
Anyone figured out how the battery holder works? Really needs unscrewing the brace for every battery change?

shows motor, saddle, shorty configurations, ability to lock a center diff/slipper makes it easy to make any split shaft 4wd.....RWD or FWD
EOS series is all carpet, this car has a center slipper for that reason. info on the AE 4wd inc, states carpet version will have a center slipper.
thing i don't like is the angles on shaft system going into gearboxes

"The original Durango was developed by Serpent Racing from the Netherlands who teamed up with Gerd Strenge to develop a Serpent-Branded 4WD electric buggy based upon prototype cars designs and built by German racer Gerd Strenge, calling the car the S500. The car was a radical departure from the slab-sided hand-machined prototypes when it first saw the light of day at Nuremberg 2008 however the economic climate meant the car never went into production. Fortunately Gerd Strenge and his designer Michael Vollmer formed at the end of 2008 the brand ‘Team Durango’ was formed launching a redesigned S500 called the DEX410 and making it available for the mass market since the September 2009. For many years before then prototype cars designed and built by Gerd had noticeable success against the larger commercial builders on the European racing scene."
