Default Lubricating CVDs?

What is the best way to lubricate CVDs? I've been using this stuff:

http://www.tamiya.com/english/produc...4_1/414_12.htm

extremely thick/sticky but I don't know if it's bad for attracting dirt. Was thinking of using this:

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXATCH&P=ML

anybody tried it or have comments?

Personally I would stick with the grease. Krytech lubes are good but never lasts long,
you'll end up applying to often for my liking and they hate the wet.

Why not try looking outside the RC world? I've used a dry motorcycle chain lube before and didn't have issues. A lot cheaper than dedicated RC stuff as well. I've also known many to leave the CVD's dry though!
I would stay away from anything that will attract dirt as you end up with grinding paste very quickly.

I have been using that dry lubricant on all of my CVDs that do not have a boot on them. I honestly cant say if it helps anything at all, but I figure it cant hurt..

Maxima chain wax lube is what I use and keeps everything pretty clean. You only need to spray a tiny smidge of it.

When I race, I clean out my outdrives/pucks AND my CVD joints, almost every run. The smoother those surfaces perform, the better the car performs.

I first completely spray them clean with some motor spray, and let them dry. Then I use just a couple drops of normal ol bearing oil, to lube both surfaces. It's quick, easy, and works great. This allows me an easy way to always keep them clean and running well.

In the last two days I've ran 230 laps on a loam dirt track, 25 second laps, with my Associated T4 and a 7.5 motor in it. I never lube my cvd's. Those 230 laps are just a drop in the bucket to what those cvd's have ran this year and all my other racing has been done with a 6.5 motor.

I just bought some of that Trakpower dry lube you posted. I have only ran one day with it but it seems ok. If your the type that looks at things alot and re apply it for every race/practice day my thought is it will work just fine and stay cleaner but can't say for sure just yet.

Great thread. My EMaxx shafts would squeek when dry. I finally resorted to some thin gun oil I had handy. I have actually had the shaft ends melt from the pivot ball getting so hot. So lube is crucial. My cvd's, I lube with the same stuff. It's almost a turbine oil, super thin, red, but will sling off, to keep from drawing to much dust, but will stay put in the pins. I tried some high dollar teflon dry lube, it didn't have enough sheer resistance to help any. I have one of those syringe applicators so I can reach way inside and apply just a tiniest film. If I remember right, it was called Bucks Gun Oil. Label has long since fell off. I've had the same bottle for years. Carry on guys, always looking for a better way.

White lightning chain lube. It's a dry paraffin wax lube. Goes on wet, but completely dries. Won't attract dirt. Won't sling off.
