Does anyone race with Tbone bumpers installed? Would you recommend it?

I have a Tbone bumper on my Typhon, for racing. I like it. Sometimes I think about taking it off because most buggies don't run a bumper like that, at my track and my buggy is already 1 of the heavier ones. It does protect from bad landings though.

On my TLR t 3.0 I have one of those DE Racing bumpskid bumpers. I like it. Has a nice wedge and sticks out a little more than the stock 'bumper'. I'd try that.

Default Gear mesh

When setting up gear mesh, is the paper method also applicable to the 8ight TE ?

Mash it tight and back off till the is a little bit(or the measurement also known as C hair) of play between the gears all the way around the spur gear.

Pretty much this^ lol

I just run it in tight, then just back it out a tad. Then you can kind of tell my sound to adjust from there. I guess from knowing where I like it, I kind of just know where it its now. Best I can explain it is when it's backed out a tad, it looks like the shape of the teeth of pinion runs perfectly parallel with the contour of the spur teeth.

I need some help please. I am new to the 1/8th scale world, always ran 1/10 but always wanted 1/8. So a few weeks ago I found a great deal on a 8ight-t e 3.0 with motor and esc at the local hobby shop. It was already built but never used. So I Picked it up along with a battery and trencher tires. I am mainly using it just as a light basher and run around the neiborhood as I don't really race anymore. My problem is I don't think I have it set up right. When you accelerate it just squats the rear end down and pulls a wheelie or smokes the front tires and it steers for crap. I would like to get it to keep the nose down and steer better. I know its capable of this I just don't know how to get it there. Also under hard braking the front diff clicks like the gears are slipping. Is that preventable?

That clicking often happens when the center drive shaft is not snugged onto the diff pinion shaft enough. You can try shimming the diff better or hold your finger on the pinion when putting the drive shaft on. That way you don’t get any fore and aft movement of the pinion.

I just bought a very nice used 8ight-T E 3.0 but have some questions. Has anyone tried the stiffer spring = Fioroni Spring Steel Stiff Servo Saver Spring 1.9mm ??? I'm a bit of a steering snob and I wanted to give it a go but thought I would check in to see if anyone has any experience with them??? its cheap and easy so I may just try it but I don't really want to wast time and $ if I don't need to. my truck seems to turn nice as is. also anyone have any direction on the longer/ shorter steering rack? what is the advantage for each? and last is the aluminum bell cranks worth the $$$

1. Spring not needed. tighten up on the kit spring and your good to go.

2.Steering rack is ackerman. long one is nice and smooth and easy to drive. Short is more reactive quicker response. still easy and smooth.

3. bell cranks. can't hurt but not needed or a have to have item.

Freebird - Thanks for the feedback! I think my 8ight is set up for now then. the upgrades it came with are the aluminum front top brace, aluminum front spindle and rear carrier. its been super durable and I'm having a blast. I used to just bash my XXL2E and I'm used to being able to run just a few times without breaking something but this thing just wont stop. I have used and abused it and it just keeps running. Super happy with it. I'm having a blast racing my buddy... I never thought I would have this much fun racing. I don't see myself as a racer but I'm going that direction more and more. don't get me wrong, still love bashing the snot out of my pig but this has been a fun change of pace. Are there any upgrades that I should get or is it just tuning from here to get the most out of it?
