TKR5005 – EB48.3 1/8th Competition Electric Buggy Kit
Since the release of the original EB48 in August of 2012, we have been continually improving our products. Over the years we have tested hundreds of parts, released dozens of meaningful options, and we have improved the overall setup of the EB48. The EB48.2 improved on the original vehicle and has enjoyed incredible success around the world. Now it’s time to introduce the EB48.3 – the new standard in the 1/8th Electric Buggy class.

We started with the suspension and completely redesigned the geometry. The new design aimed to improve big jump landings while at the same time improve small bump handling and consistency. Longer shocks have been fitted to increase suspension travel and new towers (TKR5268, TKR5269) were designed to optimize shock angles. Revised upper camber link positions on both the front and rear shock tower provide setup options that improve driveability and traction in all conditions. A new piston was designed specifically for the longer shocks (TKR6159) to adjust the compression/rebound characteristics. The lower arms (TKR5184, TKR5286) feature new shock mounting locations. Clamping spring perches (TKR6140) and new shock boots (TKR6144, TKR6145) are included to keep the shocks clean, smooth, and trouble free. We also included the left and right handed shock mounting screws (TKR1240) to ensure you never lose a shock during operation.

New rear hubs (TKR5199) allow the option of using the stock CV axles or the upcoming universal driveshafts. We now also offer the rear hubs in aluminum as an option (TKR5199A). At the front of the vehicle are new trailing steering spindles (TKR5193) and spindle carriers (TKR5194). The trailing components vastly improve high speed bump handling in addition to smoothing out the steering response. The vehicle initiates turns more predictably and finishes corners better than ever before. Larger bearings are now fitted to the front spindles for improved durability. The spindles will also accommdate the upcoming universal driveshafts.

The V2 hinge pin braces (TKR5161, TKR5162, TKR5163, TKR5164, TKR5165) have found their way into the new kit. They provide more adjustability than ever before. For example, changing the roll centers at the hinge pin is now an easy task and allows you to set up the vehicle for any conditions. Front arm sweep, kickup, rear anti-squat, and rear toe are all adjustable. A revised chassis was designed to increase clearance for the many V2 hinge pin positions.

Our low profile wing mount (TKR5181) is included to lower the CG of the whole vehicle. A revised front bumper (TKR5166) increases front ground clearance. Straight camber link rod ends (TKR5187) were produced to improve consistency in corners. Maintenance is easier with the addition of the split center differential mount (TKR5260, TKR5263).

Finally, the box setup has been tuned by some of the best drivers in the world to give our customers a vehicle that they can confidently drive in most conditions. With the extensive list of adjustments and improvements, it is easier than ever to tune the vehicle to your driving style and track conditions.

Also very important....will there be a new body?
The old one is Fugly, I like the LFR style!!

No new body. Agreed on the old one and on the LFR. The JC Finnisher and the Proline Phanton are great choices....that stock body is unappealing. I really like the stock NT48 and ET48 bodies and was hoping for an updated EB body from Tekno.

Truggy shocks? Or something in between the buggy and truggy length?

Dan.J 06-30-2015 05:01 PM

Buggy looks good, look forward to seeing how the updates help the platform. Contrary to the two people above, I LOVE the stock body, its sleek and evil looking:nod:

When will it ship?

Yes, truggy shocks. Although the .2 buggy rears are the same as the truggy fronts. So if one were upgrading their .2 buggy they would only need to get the truggy rears and put the .2 rears on the front. I hope that makes sense :)

Makes perfect sense. Thanks!

EB48.3 is available for pre-order now direct from Tekno. I believe Fierce RC Solutions also has pre-orders up. Other sites/distributors/hobby shops will follow as soon as they can I'm sure. Contact your preferred dealer and inquire for the best possible info.
We're hoping to have an initial shipment landing in the 2nd week of July. A lot of spare parts are already here, just waiting for the kits before we set them live on the site.

I did mods to my 48.2 to get as close as I could to the .3 from what we knew of it and it made the car more stable for sure. This new package is going to be SWEET for sure!

iTz Nicholas72 07-01-2015 08:33 AM

Found my eBuggy!

BLbound 07-01-2015 11:14 AM

Woohoo! I hope 1/8 electric makes a comeback!

makes a comeback? It is larger than nitro in my area.

Biffff 07-01-2015 11:23 AM

Thinking this going to be my new buggy.
I've heard that the Tekno buggies have great wear characteristics... This accurate??
Any weak ppints that need upgrading out of the box???

The only thing needed is a metal servo horn. The Hot Bodies servo horns have the best fit. The cars do indeed have great wear characteristics.

raved007 07-01-2015 01:10 PM

I wish tekno company they make 1/10 4wd buggy and 2wd buggy

The tekno servo horns made for the cars are the ticket!

protc3 07-01-2015 05:39 PM

awesome car!!

revhead145 07-01-2015 07:04 PM

I have 2 on pre-order :) might even bolt the truggy shocks to my buggy this weekend for a test run

Riflebuilder 07-01-2015 07:29 PM

Hoping and praying my local shop can get in on the initial preorders. I have a Tekin RX8 Gen 2 and matching 1900 kv motor waiting. I just need a good servo and advice on which 4S batteries. Never ventured outside of my 2S world.

Smc and promatch both have quality 4s packs at good prices.

What mah should I shoot for. I like to typically have 2 practice batteries and a race battery. Let me know if that's too many batteries for 4S, not sure if that's overkill.

I can get by with 4600mah. Most will run a minimum of 5000. Smc has 6500 and 6700's right now. Promatch has 6000 and 6500's. If you go with the 6500's you will have plenty of battery if you ever get an e truggy down the line.

I have 2 packs for each of my cars, but if I would only run one class I would have 3.

fizzy 07-01-2015 10:15 PM

I'm getting this as my first ebuggy I was wondering what are the essential spares/upgrades needed and if anyone can advise on a good 1/8 ESC/ motor combo as I've only ever ran electric 1/10 touring cars any advice/ help would be great

Riflebuilder 07-02-2015 03:49 AM

Thanks, running a Savoy 1258TG in my 410.3, overall been happy. What should I run on the EB48.3? Running Tekin RX8 Gen 2, so it should handle power hungry servos.

There will be many recommendations on servos but I run the Savox 1268 in both my buggy and truggy and have been more than happy. The performance is great on 7.4V but only decent on 6V so crank up the BEC on that Tekin.

get the Tekno al. servo horn.that should really be the only upgrade you will need.

the tekin gen2 esc and 1900kv motor is used the most.

Riflebuilder 07-02-2015 12:14 PM

Ordered the Savox 1283SG for the buggy. I figured this would be the best for what I'm looking to do.

I'm getting my 48.3 at my local shop at retail pricing, but Amain will have them at $60 off. Figured I would help someone!!

Checked out SMC batteries. Price is half the Protek at Amain. The only problem is what connectors should I be running?? My 410.3 runs 4mm bullets and I would like to standardize them. From what I understand the SCT needs the best connectors as possible because of the amp draw while the 1/8 ebuggies can get by with less?? Any thoughts?

werner sline 07-03-2015 05:02 AM

any picture with the body ? can't wait to see this massiv front tower !!

Most run Deans on there buggies, I too have bullets on my 410.3 and yes there is ALOT of amp draw on a heavy 4wd SCT with a 2s setup.
