Default What 1/8 ESC /motor combo is best for club racing?

I'm sure there will many different opinions on this subject but I just a few good options to choose from.

My main focus is nitro but I'd like to run e-buggy locally (club racing).
I need a good ESC / motor combo and preferred sensored. Tekin has great stuff but it's more than I want to spend for club racing. I have been looking at a few hobbywing systems but before jumping the gun I'd like some feedback from those who have personal experience with the hobbywing stuff. I'd also like to know the model number of the systems you guys are running.

I converted a D812 and our track is very tight.

Thanks in advance for helpful info.

1800kv Hobbywing Xerun combo user here. Very happy with the setup. Has taken me to race victories. No problems so far.

Sct pro and either smc or hobbywing motor. I've ran both and they worked great.

That 150A Hobbywing ESC is way to much for club racing. Works great, but it is bulky, making the mounting options limited. I think I heard a rumor of a new one coming out?

Hobywing SCT Pro is the way to go. Paired with the SMC 1900Kv motor, you are looking at $180 of a very competitive club racing setup.

I've been running the hobbywing 1800kv combo for a while now. Other than the on/off switch breaking, it's been faultless.
Thigh, I do agree, the ESC size is a bit of an issue. But it wouldn't stop me from buying one.

Ok guys. I have a motor coming (new LRP 2000KV)
I plan on getting the hobbywing SCT pro ESC.

The last question I have is, will I need the program box?

You can program it without the box but it's a pita. Just get it, you can also update the firmware with it. Im referring to the 3 in 1 box.

Will do. I'll just get the complete hobbywing set up and keep the LRP motor as a spare or sell it.

Thanks a ton for all of the input guys.

I found the program box a pita to use by itself. Pluging it in to the computer is alot easier option.
Also not sure what you guys mean by the ESC being to large? Surely all 8th scale buggies/truggies should have room to fit it. Plenty of room on my MBX7.
