Default 1/8 e buggy esc question

I have a mugen mbx6 with a tekno v4 conversion , I also have a hobbywing sct pro 120amp esc and a 4700kv 4 pole motor. Could I use this in the mbx6 with a 2s lipo and be competitive and make say a 8 to 10 minute race ? Or should I just get something else ? Thanks

Keep the ESC, but upgrade to a 1/8 motor and a 4S pack.

What are the dimensions of the 4700KV motor ? 540 or 550 ?

You're right about running a high-KV motor with just 2S, but your Mugen will feel sluggish, and run times will not be great (higher Amp draw).

As suggested, you need a proper 1/8th scale motor, something in the 40x65mm mimimum, 3000KV, and you'll need at least 3S to power it.

Buy a 1/8 motor like a SMC 1900 ($65) and a 4s Lipo... with how you listed to run it, will thermal the motor and the 2s lipo, since that car is too heavy to run on that setup

The HW SCTPro 120A will be fine with 4s Lipo, I have that with my SMC 1900 motor.
