What alternatives are there for the SMC 4500 4S? Anything, I think someone mentioned Zombie?

If you're looking for affordability you can look at these.

I want a pack that'll fit, so not too tall, no higher than 38mm, has a decent run time/capacity and good power - and hardcase.

Last summer I ran an SMC 4500mah, 60c pack. I ran it weekly for 5 months, charging at 2C (9amps) most of the time, but always storage voltage after a race day. Two cells then died. Ya it was an inexpensive pack, but I'm willing to pay for quality, or is this just part of the game? Fresh packs each season?

The SMC pack was 38"Hx45"Wx138"L and weighed 420grams. That 420g is nice because that is about the same as my electronics on the other side (Tekin Gen I ESC, Tekin T8i 1950kv, Hitec 7955 servo, plus my receiver and PT all at about 400g).

Looking around I have found the following options of similar dimensions and similar weight:

1. Reedy Zappers 5200mah 4S 110C at 470grams (ASC27327)
2. Orion Carbon Pro Ultra 4800mah 4S 110C at 457grams (ORI14084)
3. Protek 4200mah (3800mah at 14.8v) Graphene HV 4S 100C at 349grams (PTK-5101-17)
4. Protek 5600mah (5000mah at 14.8v) Graphene HV 4S 100C at 470grams (PTK-5118-18)

anyone have any experience with these packs?

Thanks in advance,
D

What's a good servo for this truck? I'd did not say best, lol. Not looking for super expensive but would like durable since it's for the kid. Thanks

I higly recommend JX servos.
The CLS-HV7323MG is moore than enough I think.

FEATURE:
-- High voltage

-- High performance programmable digital coreless standard servo
-- High-precision Taiwan-made steel gears with hard anodizing
-- Full CNC aluminium Shell structure
-- Dual ball bearings
-- Waterproof

SPECIFICATIONS:
Dead band: 1μs
Working frequence: 1520μs / 330hz
Motor: coreless motor
Operating Speed (6V): 0.15sec/60°
Operating Speed (7.4V): 0.12sec/60°
Stall Torque (6V): 20.2 kg.cm
Stall Torque (7.4V): 23.9kg.cm
Dimensions: 40.5X20.5X36mm /1.59X0.80X1.42in
Weight: 73 g (2.57oz)
Connector Wire Length: JR 265 mm (10.43in)
Bearing: 2BB

I use it with no problem. I think the quality is identical to sawöx servos, but a little bit cheaper, not so loud, and you don't need any glitchbuster.
I ordered it from e-bay for 56 dollars, free shipping.

I can't tell yet. My first race is going to be in April.
But the first impressions are realy good.
If you want a quality servo for budget this is a good choise.

Got my new (to me) EB48SL set up last night. Ready for it's first track day this Thursday. If all goes well, it will likely be my main '1/8 buggy' for our indoor track. Was currently running a Typhon/Dex mix, which has also been a great car. I just wanted a lighter, more nimble car, which I think this car will deliver.

Hey fellas, I just wanted to confirm. If I were to use the stock motor mount, is it the Tekin T8i motors that will still fit without needing the upgraded motor mount? I'm thinking of getting one so I can run mine on 3s or 4s since I'm gonna be keeping it as a basher and retiring it from the track. And I have a little race coming up with my friend's 1/5 scale Losi who is convinced he can beat my electric car in a drag race. So I wanted to keep my electronics happier than they would be running my current 2s 4500kv setup.

I turned my EB48SL into an SCT410.3 for an indoor carpet series and the Tekin T8i motor fit fine. 1950kv is a nice setup combined with a 4S lipo. Depending on size of the lipo you may want different battery straps.

Awesome thanks bud I was thinking to simplify things, just using a high capacity 3s lipo so it fits with stock straps and go with the 2700kv t8i. The question is do you think this 3s setup would run substantially cooler than the 2s setup with a 4500kv motor, or would it not be worth it unless I went up to 4s?

based on what platgof said on 3S it should run much cooler I am thinking than 2S.

I ran mine again 1/8 buggies outdoors on a 1/8 track and it ran really cool for the 4S setup.
