Later,
I was thinking about trying that myself. I have a BK2 that has sat for over a year, so stealing the shocks would be no problem. I also have a CRT.5 that I upgraded the shocks to 1/8 scale. The original CRT.5 shocks have a very similar top cap system, that does break. I'll give those a look too. I'm just a bit bummed that the velvet shocks preform so well, but don't seem to have an obvious weak spot that could be easily fixed with a minor mold change.

Thanks for the info Casper. I'm still a bit concerned in that I bought the SP because it runs stick packs, and the parts have already been a bit scarce at times. I may do the B44 front end swap with Losi front shocks. As much as I love how great the car drives stock, I'm not a fan of doing repairs and searching for parts when I could be driving.

One other question. Does the RTR use the same graphite chassis or is it plastic?

They don't make a plastic chassis for this car from what I understand. I would love to get a plastic chassis for it if one were available.

Kyosho America does there best to keep stuff in stock but they are at the mercy of Kyosho Japan on some stuff. They are getting much better though.

What I got a couple weeks ago was that the SP was "suspended" and that Kyosho America was in the process of deciding whether to continue importing them or not. It's not really discontinued, it just might not be imported over here.

It's a real shame, IMO. It's flat-out the best car out there. You don't have to have to be a pro and use NiMh to make it go fast. Plus...they barely got their stuff together parts support-wise. The car has been out for 6 months...and it seems like 4 of those months were spent with us (and the shops) all scrounging for parts.

The ZX-5 Readyset chassis is plastic.

Yep. It's a flexy-flyer. It's really soft plastic and it has a different p/n that doesn't say "composite" in the description.

Interesting. I may have to see this on yours.

I hope our winter indoor offroad becomes successful this year.

Casper,
When using the center shaft one-way, are you using the rigid front diff setup or just tightening the ball diff until its locked?

I run a diff front. Set pretty normal. Tight enough not to slip but still allow diff action.

Motor weight plays a big role on the deciding factor to add or not to add. In most cases you can get by without adding weights. In cases where primitive regulations enforce a minimum weight then lead will have to be added to the chassis to make up the weight difference but you will still have way more punch over the best matched ‘everready’s’

TrackPower 4900 weigh around 266g versus an IB NiMG 4200 weighing in around 428g. Lithiums are normally 40% lighter than a similar NiMh pack.

Guys, I have been searching around but couldn't find an answer to my question. So I thought I would try here. What does the spacers under the front gearbox do? I know it raises the kickup or down accordingly, but what does it do for handling? The more level the better the forward bite but less suspension soak or vise versa? If you guys could explain this to me it would be great! Thanks and keep posting, I'll read all I can read on these cars.....
