I see that Pro-Line Pro-2 is made in USA
per the page " all Made in the USA for over thirty years."

Just wondering. Trying to teach the kids to buy American first if a suitable choice is available.

The question is:
Are any other RC Off Road cars/trucks made in USA?
How do they compare with Slash, etc?

I have seen and touched one at the local track. They are built very nicely and look to have very quality parts. I am thinking about trying one out myself.

The Pro-2 IS a slash. Just uses a narrow chassis.

The truck is nothing like a slash.

Pretty sure tekno is made in San Diego .

X-Factory cars have a lot of US content.

Not to argue, but looking at the Proline website - its not a Slash. I am not sure if its hate towards Slash or what. Pardon my ignorance on the issue.

I am interested in knowing if its as good as a Slash.

My experience with the Slash is strictly a basher. My son and I, a friend and my son's buddies all have them. It makes our bashing competition's close. They mind as well say Timex on them as they take a lick-in and keep on ticking. Their ability to be bashed is impressive.

I always teach my son to look for an American product first. At the time we bought the Slash we weren't familiar with all the choices. Having 3 Pep Boys within 5 miles was a big PLUS when you have kids and need parts.

I looked up Tekno - it wasn't clear so I wrote them and look forward to their response.

The Pro2 is made of all their upgrade pieces for the Slash. All the bolt patterns are the same for the two and you could use parts interchangeably. But PL has made upgrade pieces for every single thing so they came out with all of them together as their own truck.

All CF and plastic parts, which is most of them, in all X Factory vehicles are made in the U.S.A. The CF parts -- more than half of each vehicle -- are made right in our shop in Ohio. Some molded parts are made in California, the rest in Ohio. We purchase all hardware from a supplier in New Jersey. Our printing is done in Ohio, and our decal sheets come from Arizona. The boxes we use, both the white Kit boxes and the shipping containers, are made in U.S.A. Our plastic bags are purchased from an Illinois supplier.

Our home is the small farming community of Whitehouse, Ohio, near Toledo. All the Ohio stuff is made in metro Toledo -- we do everything we can as near as possible to home.

We are proud of this, and will not change. We receive sales pitches almost every day from someone overseas making something we use. They all go straight to the trash.

There is an American flag hanging on the wall inside our shop which was flown on a combat mission over Iraq by one of our Team drivers. When you walk in, you can't possibly miss it!

I tip my hat to you guys, I was trying to start a business (TAP RC) which also had the theme, "Designed and Manufactured in the USA." The second part is quite the most challenging thing to do since 4 out of 6 of my designs could not be manufactured due to it not being economical and price competitive...

I'm a firm believer that we (Americans) can design and produce some of the world's greatest things and still be able to make a profit (in niche market of course).

But I also have nothing against things from overseas, if our domestic operations and manufacturing isn't the best nor efficient, I don't think it should be supported simply because of the geographic location. I think our designs and products should be appreciated by the value that it brings to customers, the cleverness of the design, with the fairest and lowest cost possible to the consumer and still be able to be profitable...

The pro2 is a slash clone. Has all the same geometry. All the parts swap between the two trucks without issue. I've driven one, and it handles like a slash. I believe the pro2 is made in the us, that's why it carries a $400 price tag.

The fact that about every single part is upgraded my also contribute to the $400 price tag

Its not really upgraded, just changed how the parts look, not how they function.

Anyhow back on topic. A big part of having so few stuff made in USA is the fact that it can be made here at an economical price, but the overseas will just undercut that price as well. So much stuff is designed here in the US, but made overseas. AE, Losi, and Traxxas are all American designed, but the individual parts are made in Taiwan or similar country.

Thanks for your interest in our products. Our products are designed and tested in southern California, but like every single manufacturer with the exception of Kyosho and Mugen, our manufacturing is in Taiwan. The main difference with us is innovative design and the ability to make changes quickly if issues arise. We also have exceptional support.
